Spock will die in the next movie

I mean they (TF2 Spoliers, stop reading if you care!!) killed off Optimus Prime briefly during the wonderful movie 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen' in an obvious nod to the 1986 Tranformers movie. Everyone with any kind of Transformers knowledge knows that Optimus dies in that movie.

Point is that we have the same writers working on Trek 2012 and they might kill off Spock in the next movie. Once again most people who have watched Trek over the last 30 years are going to be aware of Spocks death and subsequent resurrection based on TWOK and TSFS.

Will they pull the same trick in Trek 12? I think so.

Will they have to use Trek 13 to bring him back, will they leave him dead or will he be resurrected by the Borg or something? Who knows. (well Orci and Kurtzman actually)

I doubt it. It would be to cliche'. But after STXI, I wouldn't put anything past these guys (except possibly writing a good story).

Um how can we be sure they were paying homage to the movie I mean prime dies in the 1986 film, then again in the G1 season after coming back to life only to be brought back again only to be killed off again the the Japanese continuation. And then there's that fact that he died in the first episode of Transformers Animated and he has died twice in the Marvel G1 comics and once in the G2 comics.

Seriously Optimus Prime is the Kenny of Transformers he ALWAYS dies.

You mean "they would if they wanted to please haters of the first film". I don't think that's the target audience

No, I mean they would if they were really willing to actually use the possibilities of the rebooted universe.

But as of now, it's just going to be same old, same old. If in the next movie they actually have to cope with Vulcan's destruction, that would already be a plus. But I think they will barely even mention the events of the first movie.

Why Uhura? wouldn't killing Sulu or Scotty, or Chekov or McCoy "actually use the possibilities of the rebooted universe"?

And considering that no one knows what the story for ST12 is going to be, your speculation is just that. . .speculation. . .

Would work, too. Killing Uhura would greatly affect Spock. Killing Pike or McCoy would greatly affect Kirk. Scotty, Sulu and Chekov are right now not much more than redshirts, their deaths would be still surprising, yet with a much lower impact.

Oh really, say it ain't so. I truly thought it was a fact.

I don't think so. I mean, they already killed off his planet, his mother, and now his girlfriend? What do you think they're trying to do to the guy?

If Spock dies and Khan is in the movie, I'll make sure to wear a pastel blazer with cuffs bunched up and a T-shirt underneath.

I think it will be Uhura, if anyone dies. Saldana's star is on the rise, she's in a lot of films these days. How long do you reckon she'll stick around?

If they bump off Uhura, who's gonna be the new top girl? Gaila? Hannity? Someone playing Number One (Angelina Jolie would be great, and at her age she'd fit in great with Pike)? Someone playing Nurse Chapel?

Yeah, if they're going to kill off anyone, why the only woman?

I think the writers are going to put him through the wringer till he cracks. Just a hunch. Spock is the most interesting character and Quinto is doing a great job with the role. Writers love writing for great character/actor combos, because it inspires their ideas and makes their writing look good.

The core of the Spock character has traditionally been split between the outsider story and his need for emotional control, but with Vulcan whalloped, the outsider story no longer resonates as much. I think they're going for the emotional angle with him, which means they'll do everything they can think of to push him off the cliff.
