"Excellent" from me....but it still seems like there's too much story left to tell, for the time we have left. <sigh!>

Interesting, that so many people think that Hugo will inherit the mantle from Jack...that just doesn't seem right, somehow. Jack was our P.O.V. character in episode one, and if anyone remains in the role of New Protector in the end, it'll be him.

I think Hugo shared some personality similarities with Jacob. I'm sure that Jacob felt some sort of kinship with him.

However, I'm not sure that Hugo will inherit the job from Jack, but I keep sensing that Jack's tenure won't be long. We may be at the end of the cylcle, and that the FS timeline will have something to do with it. Something to do with the efforts of our characters both on the island and in the FS timeline.

However it happens, the end result is that Jacob and his brother never set foot on the island, which produces the FS timeline.

Possible, but I'm inclined to think the finale is going to end with Jack remaining on the island as it's protector. To me it feels like it would be a much more natural and poignant ending -- the series started with a shot of him on the island, and now it ends the same way.

I don't understand the people who are complaining about not getting any answers. We've gotten tons. What, are they supposed to just lay it all out so that every single mystery is revealed? What would be the fun in that? Besides, there are still almost 3 hours left so it's hard to bitch about lack of answers when you know more are coming.

I thought the episode was Excellent and it really made last week's much more meaningful. A poignant part for me was near the beginning when the 4 of them were on the beach and Jack says, "Let's go." For the first time in the whole show there was no bickering or schisms between them about strategy or course of action. They just looked at Jack and followed.

We'll find out soon! That's possible but I'm guessing too predictable. On the other hand, we did see the season start out with the island sunken. We'll get an explanation for that and it has to play into the finale because it'll be in the finale.

The clues are there. In the FS timeline, the island is sunken and there's no Jacob. If there's no Jacob, probably no brother and no Smokey. That plus the good character outcomes doesn't sound like a bad outcome at all.

Does anyone know what happened to all the other non-main cast member survivors? They all die? In hiding? The show has really been shifted away from them for the past 3 seasons.

Like who? Pretty much everybody got killed in Season 5 when they got attacked by people with flaming arrows.

Hey! I had no idea they got Mila Furlan to come back.

Awesome ep as usual. Liked the way Widmore died - go, Ben! :bolian:

I don't really have a lot to say about anything at this point. I think I'll just let it all happen. Bring on Sunday!!!

Hey! I had no idea they got Mila Furlan to come back.

I had heard that they had been unable to get her back because she didn't want to do it anymore. I was pleasantly surprised to see her last night.

It was so weird seeing her not crazy and not an alien.

You just reminded me of another dangling thread--In season 5 after joining up with DHARMA Jin was assigned the task of mapping out a grid search pattern by Sawyer to locate the other survivors that had traveled through time with them but had not made it to the creek. In fact that was how Jin ran across Jack, Hurley and Kate in "316" yet nothing came of it.

In the finale last year we ran across Rose and Bernard--who had one of the better and more effective wrap-ups of the series--living with Vincent. Yet not a peep about any of the other survivors since then about what became of them. Did they join the Others? some of course were killed in the Others attack in 54.

As for those in 2007 well the implication is almost all the Others perished in the Temple attack and those that were with Smokey that were and weren't Others just ran off into the jungle. As for the survivors of the plane who knows.

Lostpedia ran the numbers on all the no-name survivor deaths throughout the series, and it turns out that yes, other than Rose and Bernard, all of the non-"front credits" 815 survivors have either died or been absorbed into the Others like Cindy and the kids.

I am wondering if we're going to see Rose, Bernard, and Vincent in the finale.

In this ep, MiB bargained with Widmore over Penny's life, which suggests that actually, Widmore doesn't believe that MiB winning would *necessarily* mean the end of all life.

I wouldn't believe for a second what the MiB promised regarding the lives of people.

But what about Widmore? He previously said that if MiB won, it would mean everybody dies. Clearly, he doesn't really believe that, if he intends to bargain with MiB over Penny's life. It really isn't clear what exactly happens if MiB wins at this point. Which I think is kind of silly, going into the finale with this epic confrontation, and not knowing what the stakes are.

Well clearly it WON'T be good, whatever it is. And that's all I really need to know.

Vincent will appear at the last second and bite Smokey in the ankle.

Later, in a bonus scene on the DVD, Vincent will be seen chasing a thrown stick into the Cave of Light, and becoming the new Smoke Monster... who no longer wants off the island, but just needs a stick thrown for him now and then.

I thought it was decent but hate what they did with Ben. To have him turn and start bad and just kill people against after everything that has happenned justf elt wrong. Widmore was understandable given what happenned to Alex, but to help the MiB and go after Desmond with him was sort of ridiculous imo.

Also didn't like Richard's death. Seemed totally pointless, and I'm left wondering why he ever even existed.

Ben isn't evil. He's deep undercover. And killing Widmore was a perk. Notice that Miles was not found and he didn't rat him out. In the climactic final battle, atop a firey volcano balcony, Ben will grapple with Not-Locke from behind and they'll tumble into the lava together.

Above average. Far better than last week's (which wouldn't have been difficult) and even though it was mostly setup it was pretty good setup.

I'm somewhat...disappointed (for want of a better word) at the way Widmore was dealt with this season. He was set up as the big baddie, he gets back to the island, we learn Jacob turned his attitude around (or so Widmore claimed), and then he's offed. Just like that. Very anticlimactic and made his presence this season seem pretty meaningless.

Richard's (apparent) death was if anything even more anticlimactic. A character who seemed to promise a great deal at different stages of the series and he's just flicked out of existence.

Otherwise it was pretty good stuff. Jack getting Jacob's gig was predictable (and kinda funny when I remembered the original concept was for the Jack character to be killed in the pilot ep ) and the further breaking down of the "barriers" (again, lacking a better word) between the island and LA events was fun to see. I suppose we won't find out who the mother of Jack's kid is but I'd kinda like to know.

Hopefully I won't have to wait too long to see the finale. And hopefully no one will blab about it outside this forum until I have. :p :D
