This last weekend in the Bay Area Sports Scene was one of the big reasons why I love sports. It's those emotional, feel good stories that leave a lasting impact. While ESPN loves to follow the negative stuff and Tiger Woods, it's those positive moments that really bring Sports to a whole new light.
This weekend had the Sharks winning and finally making it to the Western Conference Finals for the second time in team history, the Giants finally getting a game in a windy Citi Field, but the moment that topped it all off was Dallas Braden's Perfect game. He did it on Mothers Day, with his hometown (209, Stockton California) watching, and his Grandmother embracing him at the end. I was very moved by that whole scene not just because of the achievement, but really, that could have been a TV Lifetime movie of the week and I would have loved it. You couldn't script it any better.
So I ask, is there a moment in sports (Either your team or in general, doesn't matter) that gave you chills/goosebumps? What was the last one you witnessed, or what was the one you remember the most, or both. Sports really can bring out the best in people, and they really are what reality TV only dreams of being. What I saw yesterday was absolutely perfect.
