Moments that give you Chills?

This last weekend in the Bay Area Sports Scene was one of the big reasons why I love sports. It's those emotional, feel good stories that leave a lasting impact. While ESPN loves to follow the negative stuff and Tiger Woods, it's those positive moments that really bring Sports to a whole new light.

This weekend had the Sharks winning and finally making it to the Western Conference Finals for the second time in team history, the Giants finally getting a game in a windy Citi Field, but the moment that topped it all off was Dallas Braden's Perfect game. He did it on Mothers Day, with his hometown (209, Stockton California) watching, and his Grandmother embracing him at the end. I was very moved by that whole scene not just because of the achievement, but really, that could have been a TV Lifetime movie of the week and I would have loved it. You couldn't script it any better.

So I ask, is there a moment in sports (Either your team or in general, doesn't matter) that gave you chills/goosebumps? What was the last one you witnessed, or what was the one you remember the most, or both. Sports really can bring out the best in people, and they really are what reality TV only dreams of being. What I saw yesterday was absolutely perfect.

Most recent? Sidney Crosby scoring the game-winning goal in overtime to give Canada the gold medal in hockey at the Olympics. And then subsequently Canadians going to celebrate in the streets.

Of all time, though, this is well up there:

2002 Men's Olympic Hockey final game: Canada vs. USA

For the final game, my family was in New Brunswick attending my brother's regional Minor Hockey tournament; we listened to most of the game on the radio on the way home, and straining to keep track of the play over the airwaves is pretty memorable as an experience. We made it home with about ten minutes left in the third period, and all left everything in the car to race inside. In the final minute, as it's clear that Canada has won, the audience in the arena rises and begins singing "O Canada".

Mike Jones stopping Kevin Dyson at the one yard line.

Troy Glaus' double in the bottom of the 8th in Game 6.

Those are the first two that come to mind.

The first time I sat with the bleacher creatures at Yankee Stadium. Here is a video of it. (I am in this video, but you can't see me. I'm sitting about four or five rows behind Bald Vinny.)

My teams have given more of the numb, empty feeling with a punch to the gut than chills lately.

I was at the 59-0 Pats freak October snow storm game last year, had seats about 9 rows back from where they score the 5 TDs in the 2nd quarter. It didn't take long to realize you were watching something historic. I caught one of the player's gloves as he was running off the field at the end of the game to complete the experience. Not sure who, but he had 5 XL hands...

When Agassi beat Ivanisevic to win his first Slam, at Wimbledon 1992.

When Arizona, rather than folding their tents after Philadelphia regained the lead during the NFC Championship game 16 months ago, instead showed why they weren't the same old Cardinals and rallied to win.

EDIT: To Bigfoot

Epic. I have that picture of Trev and Kirk hanging in my man cave.

A gimpy Kirk Gibson trotting around the base path and giving the fist pump after his home run to beat the A's in game 1 of the 1988 World Series.

David Tyree's miracle catch after Eli Manning's miracle escape, on the way to beating the undefeated Patriots in the Super Bowl.

Marshall University beating Xavier in football, for their first win after the plane crash.

Ohio State beating Univ of Miami for the 2002 National Title

That one ruined my otherwise lovely Superbowl party.

Okay, so maybe this is silly, but this just popped into my head while thinking of this thread. I know it's a Coke commercial, of all things, but I can't help it, it gives me chills when I watch it. :p

Nahhh... that's not silly at all. I loved it myself. And I'm not even Canadian. :D

One other thing that gave me Chills...this fucking WINTER.

You want to know what my Christmas Day was like in 2009? I was wading through near-waist deep snow down a major street near my house, trying to get to a Walgreens (the only store that was open), so I could buy something to eat, since I had nothing in my fridge. :(
