Fun at Barnes & Noble...

Took me half a second, but

Legion of Honor:

Dude needs to bring a newspaper or something with him when he does his business. He looks bored.

This picture is a riot!!!!!
CUTE CUTE pup!

And quite the carpet muncher I see.

.
I have no idea what a "monolitic sidewalk" is and why it needs to end, but it made the geek in me think of 2001.

It's a sidewalk where the curb and sidewalk are poured at the same time, rather than placing a curb at one point, and then the sidewalk with a separate pour.

I'm a civil engineer, I know useless stuff like this.

Speaking of your engineering knowledge ..., so is our current little hiccup in the Boston Metro water supply just like an engineer's wet dream for you (pun intended)? Especially considering your area of specialty? Heck, for all I know, you could have been the one who found the issue. If so, thank you ... and don't listen when the million denizens of Eastern Massachusetts start railing against the engineers.

Seems like a weird thing to put on a street sign.

I was trying to figure out why it would be important for a plow driver to know this. I'm guessing it means it's more/less likely that the plow would damage the curb? Or vice versa?

It's been a while since I participated in a picture thread so here goes. These are all from the last couple months.

I got Indian food and balloons on my birthday!

Making the same face as my girlfriend's pug Apollo (yes he's named after that Apollo, Ashley is pretty amazing):

I hinted at it in my post; here's the article explaining the mystery of the monolithic manifesto.

Edited to add: Sidious, you have a lot of balls.

^

Finally got my desktop up and running again and have been re-teaching myself all the photoshop stuff I'd forgotten over the past year while the computer sat in a box under my desk. It's not perfect, and it's nowhere near as good as what I used to be capable of, but I had fun working on this today:

^ Nice! One or two of you looks like my ex, which is weird because I've never thought of a resemblance before. I like the one of you smirking on the edge of the couch.

To be honest, I'm glad we had nothing to do with it. We worked on a study last year to look at contingencies for if something like this happened, but had nothing to do with this particular pipe that failed.

I was at a cookout on Saturday, had just watched the Kentucky Derby, and flipped over to find out this happened. My jaw kinda gaped open. I knew exactly where they were and which pipe they were talking about. Our study took us through there last year.
