That is what scares the crap out of me. If it had been a group of impartial scientist or archeologists I might have said, "Holy shit, dude!" Now I am just skipping past without so much as a backwards glance. My father is a Baptist preacher and this kind of thing doesn't even register on my "bull shit" meter anymore. At this point I have seen and heard it all.
And speaking of bull shit, there was a claim by another group back in the 1980's about the ark. They said they had satellite images of a supposed man-made structure in a glacier. They also claimed that the Turkish government wouldn't allow them into the country because of the religious implications.
First off, I highly doubt that an intact wooden boat would survive a glacial freeze. I also highly doubt that the Turkish government would close there borders to a scientific expedition, especially one that would bring tourist and their money. And since they are letting people in now to look for it, why hasn't someone gone to check out this previous claim. Edit to add: I looked it up and the group was using the Soviet/Turkish dispute over the Ararat area as the reason they couldn't prove their claim.If memory serves there was another group from the 1970's that claimed they had a piece of the boat that someone had removed from the edge of a glacier. (What's with the all the frozen ark stories?) This farmer or shepherd (I can't remember which) said that it was part of a larger structure that was inside the glacier. Nothing every came of that either.
But don't get me wrong, I am not saying it did or didn't happen. What I am saying is that Noah and his ark have become an overly exaggerated legend like Atlantis or The City of Gold. With that in mind, finding the ark would probably be a HUGE disappointment for most. Maybe that should be Indiana Jones' next adventure. Hmmm... I have to go call George now!

Truth. I remember when 'Noah's ark' was found on Mount Ararat in the 80s.
It was a franchise. Noah expanded a bit, did some advertising, and made a fleet.

^ Yes and no. They never claimed its authenticity in any official capacity, but they never refuted it either. At the same time, they made it an object of devotion, and they are very keen in refuting every single paper that tries to settle the question about it being a medieval artifact. So it's more a case of covering all your bases while at the same time exploiting it to get the devotion of the faithful.
