Most ridiculous fashion trend?

In your opinion, what was, or is, the most ridiculous fashion trend of all time?

Jeez, what is with people hating piercing? I don't even have any and I don't understand the hate.

I despise the trend toward people having earbuds on, seemingly 24/7. I hate people who walk around with Bluetooth headsets on just about as much, especially when they look me in the eye and start talking, only for me to realize they're talking to someone on the phone and I just hadn't noticed their itty bitty earpiece yet. Ugh.

Putting Grolsch bottle tops on your shoes, started by a British pop group called Bros in the 80s, although a lot of kids had to settle for milk bottle tops.

Punching holes in your flesh for fashion. It's such a sensible thing to do.

Why not? People put on makeup, they get tattoos, they color their hair. Body modification--be it permanent or temporary--is a long-held human tradition. It also isn't hurting anybody as long as it's done safely.

Makeup. And perfume. Sorry, I had to say it! I've never understood the practice. Yes, let's smear coloured paste over ourselves, make our lips and eyes look completely unnatural, and let's splash strong-smelling chemicals on our skin disguising any natural scent. Maybe it's just my strong sense of smell, but it's so offputting. Women are so much more attractive when they're not wiping themselves with artificial colourings and scents; when you can actually see and smell them, not a cloud of inhumanity with which they're cloaking themselves.

An odd mini-rant, but I stand by it :p

This is a thread about opinions. Are you seriously trying to change mine? Or are you just avoiding a job you're supposed to be doing?

I'm quite indifferent to piercings myself, they don't gross me out or anything except in abundance, but I don't find them attractive either. I dated a girl with a tongue piercing once, that had its advantages.

I like tattoos though.

I head a group of people discussing their piercing infections when I was at college. Barf.

I'm just puzzled by people having such a strong position against something that doesn't affect them whatsoever.

Now that's just nasty, and it sounds like they were too stupid to take care of their piercings properly.
