Spring Anime 2010

Speaking of anime turned live action, word on the street is that there is a Gantz live action movie coming out. I wonder how they plan on getting that past the censors
So, it's essentially a compressed version of a TV series, which already sucks to begin with, which then adds another level of suckage through being compressed. Not a good idea.

I get the feeling the whole adaptation industry is banking on that Gai King movie or whatever it's called. After Dragon Ball, everything is an improvement anyway.

I feel like now that it's established the rules of the world and the fact that the show is essentially meant to be a semi-serious drama about the afterlife, it's easier to digest. For some reason though, I just feel like the ultra clean look it has does the actual content a disservice.

What would really be nice is if Hollywood would let these people make their movies. Then you'd get the best of both worlds.

Their brains, Hollywood's brawn. ($$$)

Angel Beats or KnT?

An American Angel Beats would be funny. That first episode has shades of Lynch anyway, but I figure he'd make it even more obtuse and "intellectual". :p

He could randomly spout off "Baka", "kawai", and "sugoi". :p

On another topic I just watched Nabari no O. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless they want to see what happens when someone's who's probably read too many Naruto yaoi fanfics attempts to writes a shounen series. Full of plot holes and annoying angst-ridden characters.

Yeah i couldnt stick with Nabari either.

Anyways, I just caved in and watched the The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya cam rip

For all of you who were worried because of the endless eight thing, all I can say is "don't be" :D It's extremely well done, and in some ways tops what the first season did. That being said, it has a very different tone, it's a little bit darker and somber. It's sort of like Haruhi's version of Full Metal Panic: The Second Raid in how it shifts tone when compared to the first series as well as the increased focus on drama over comedy.

If you're looking for the frantic energy and excitement that was found in the first season and second season, it's still here to a certain extent but the focus on character plays a much bigger role. On top of that

everyone's favorite knife wielding alien android, Asakura, returns with a vengeance

I can also see why they changed gears and decided to make this a movie instead of a TV series. It really does unfold well in the movie format.

I really really can't wait for the DVD rips to come out :D

Good to know, but I think I'll wait for the "official" fansubs that aren't shaky cam. Speaking of, it got licensed recently, so now Bandai has that and the second season. Whether they ever get around to releasing them both is beyond me though. I have to say though, I ain't buying them unless they're bilingual. I'm not too happy with Bandai releasing things sub-only and I really liked the Haruhi dub.

Personally, that wasn't my worry. What bothered me more was that I found the rest of the season pretty disappointing as well.

Guess I'll wait for a decent version, but what you say merely reinforces my feeling that I won't enjoy it as much as the first season, even if it is done well.

I think I enjoyed it because of just how they executed it on television. Of course, after E8, I lost steam on the last arc... I just didn't really care about how that film of theirs was made.

Not sure I can sit through a 3 hour cam though.

Watched the first episode of Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou. All that really needs to be said about this is: :guffaw::devil:

The censors strike again though. First it was Omamori Himari and how I have to put up with them again here. Usually this involves waiting for DVD versions. It paid off for Rosario+Vampire though. :borg:

It's funny you mention R+V since it's basically the inverse of that very situation. Dude's still an outsider at a wacky school, but this time he's different because he's too powerful.

I guess it's an okay comedy, but really... anime girls need to stop falling for guys who are essentially useless. :p

"Naruto
yaoi fanfics"
You can remove the "fanfics" from the sentence.

Recently, I sampled some manga in order to see what it has to offer, and, as 'Naruto' seems to be the most popular, I read some of its last chapters.

Apparently, the 'Naruto' manga consists of almost all characters (regardless of gender) stalking and confessing their love to a really creepy guy:wtf:.

Yeah, it's best to avoid Naruto like the plague  I suppose it can be a good gateway anime for people though. I was fortunate enough to have my gateway anime be a one, two punch of Evangelion and Full Metal Panic, it caused me to set my standards high :D
