Re: Doctor Who – The 11th Hour (5x01) - (Discuss – Grade | SPOILERS) U
Saw it, enjoyed it, excited for the next one!
Didn't take long for Matt Smith to "become" the Doctor in my eyes, though I am curious to see how his personality develops away from Tennant's Doctor - assuming it does.
I love Amy Pond - and it's not just because she's gorgeous, but she's also very confident and self-assured. I'll save my comments on the potential romance for that other thread.
I actually quite enjoyed the Prisoner Zero story. Sure it's not terribly original, and once they got out of the house most of the mystery and creepiness was gone, but it was effective for what it was trying to do. The idea of the monster hiding in a room in Amy's house for these twelve years - and more importantly, hiding just at the corner of your eye - was nicely done. I do hope we get to find out how Prisoner Zero apparently knew what he did about the cracks. Maybe he learned something in between 1996 and 2008 while hiding out?
She sounds extremely vacuous.
And yet she turned in a very good performance and had a place in the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts on the BA Honors degree course, suggesting quite a bit more intelligence than you are giving her credit for.
Well, in fairness, being a highly gifted actress doesn't rule out "vacuous" necessarily - nor for that matter does high intelligence, I've known plenty of very intelligent people that are plenty vacuous.
I agree with you about Miss Gillan, however.
according to this week's Doctor Who Adventures, the scenes with young Amelia take place in April 1996. the bulk of the episode in April 2008 and the final scene where she leaves in June 2010.
Looks like the TARDIS travelled in time between missing Big Ben and crashing in Amy's garden then, as otherwise what were The O2 (Millennium Dome), 30 St Mary Axe (The Gherkin) and City Hall, all of which had not been built in 1996, doing in the background?
Works for me and is what I figured.
