I rewatched The Eleventh Hour looking for the so-called clues of who/what the Big Baddie is for this series -- I got nuttin'.

Just watched it for 4th time this it aired, such a great start :techman: and I wonder if Smith was trying to mis-direct us. When he says the 1st episode is a big hint for the big bad maybe he wasn't talking about the episode itself but the montage/trailer bit at the end which occured before the credits...maybe the big bad is located in there somewhere.

That, and the duck pond. No ducks, as he stated and then *BAM* we're led to another part of the story. Methinks the duck pond could either be a decoy, a metaphor, or a future plotline.

Or it could be related to Amy's last name.

I still think the events of cracking open the Time War during end of time must be involved somehow because a timelock being forced open must have some sort of consequences.

Are there any old enemies in Classic Who? that could be behind such events that borderlines Time Lord power to affect the entire Universe in this way ?

Well, that explains everything doesn't it!

OK, so I lied. I watched End of Time 1&2 and then The Eleventh Hour and it did cross my mind that the events from EoT are creating the cracks.

I rewatched it last night, noticed the Doctor saying there was more clothes in the wardrobe so I guess that clears that up.

I know there has been some discussion about if Leadworth Hospital had appeared in Doctor Who before.

Was watching Torchwood: Children of Earth earlier, and the Royal Leadworth, is seen in the episode, as the care home where Clem lives.

Keep an eye out next time you watch

Yes, but was it the hospital from Spearhead in Space, that's the real question..

And it appears it is not. :/

Christopher insists Whittaker owned the role in her first episode, but not only do I disagree with that, rather strongly too, I don't think any Doctor owned the part as fast and as completely as Matt Smith did in this brilliant, perfect post-regeneration episode. Several come close (Troughton, Pertwee, Tom Baker, Eccleston), but none of them are quite this combination of being a fantastic story in its own right, a brilliant performance by a noobie Doctor and a phenomenal statement for the new state of affairs for this regenerated, at this point, show (though Troughton and Pertwee are pretty damn close).

This really a wonderful, amazingly great episode, that I always loved and always will. Long live the Doctor, indeed!

It was an awesome episode. Following Tenant was never going to be easy, but Matt Smith had a sense of charm and wonder right from the start. I recall reading someone's opinion that he channelled Tenant's Doctor to begin with, as the old personality faded away he took on more of himself. Clever acting.

I honestly never really got the Tennant comparison, personally. Other than being youthful and sexy, Smith plays the Doctor as an out-of-touch grampa who thinks he can be cool by doing what the young kids do, only to come off as old fashioned. He sold the old-man-in-a-young-man's-body reaaaly well.

Whereas Ten was a supreme know-it-all with a good heart.
