Scifi pet names???

Have any of you ever given your pets scifi inspired names? I have...

I have a rule in my house; when ever we get a cat, it MUST have a Star Trek inspired name. In the ten years I've been married with kids we have had the following TREK inspired names...

Cats..
Quasar (okay, its not really star trek..but still)
Dabo
(twin cats) Tal and Shiar
Fizbin
Moogie
Phaser

Dogs...we've only had two dogs..
Archer
Khan

I wanted to name my son, yeah not a pet...but I wanted to name Robert TIBERIOUS (last name)...but got out vetoed by my wife and everyone else in my family...

What about you folks..any scifi or Trek names?

Rob

There's at least two of us (Kira's Mommy, me) who have kitty cats named Kira Nerys.

When I get my next cat, it will have some sort of sf/f name. But something I can contract to a "normal" name, so I don't always have to explain it.

If it's black, I'll call it Obsidian Disorder.

Andromeda (our second oldest)

Other genre inspired
Simba (our oldest, from The Lion King, of course)
Sushi (full name Beatrix Kiddo Devours Sushi, no not a pedigreed cat, just having fun, I won't say the movie for spoilers' sake).

Sorta retconned as a "genre" name: Mr. Orange. He was a neighborhood cat that I always referred to as "that orange cat", that we took in after someone shot him. We've had several people ask if we're Reservoir Dog fans, and neither of us have ever seen the movie, but we let it slide.

We just got a new dog and named him Sawyer, a la Lost. He kind of looks the part, too.

I named my cat Julien for the French captain of the Enterprise NCC-1701-D from an early report about Star Trek: The Next Generation by David Gerrold that was published in Starlog magazine in 1987. Then they changed the name of the character to Jean-Luc Picard. :(

At least I didn't name a pet Macha for Macha Henandez.

Dog's name: Amadeus

Cat's names: Stewie, Hannah, Sasha, Layla & Penny.

My wife has some bunnies and Guinea Pigs:

Zeus, Orion, Spock, Hera, Moonshadow, Nyota & Neytiri

My cat's Gandalf the Gray from a litter which also included Smegol and Precious, thanks to my nieces and nephew.

A cat in one of my fanfics is named "Major Tom." I say that counts as sci-fi.

I have not named any real pets with a sci-fi name yet, though.

Silvercrest--Obsidian Disorder...I LOVE it! What will you call him for short, Obsidian? Sid? ;)

Space Therapist--Nyota and Neytiri in the same cage...are they twins? ;)

I have a dog named Gizmo, who kinda looks like a Mogwai

So does my dad! He'd never even seem Gremlins, but he readily named the dog Gizmo when people told him and showed him.

Silvercrest--Obsidian Disorder...I LOVE it! What will you call him for short, Obsidian? Sid? ;)

I came up with that name years ago and it still makes me giggle.

Sid... Sidney... Cindy... may depend on whether it's a male or female. Actually, it never occurred to me before that Sid is yet another DS9 reference! :techman:

If it's grey, I plan to call it Mithraug (Missy). "mith" = grey and "raukar/raug" = demon. I have a few other constructed Tolkien names standing by for other colors.

We just got a new dog and named him Sawyer, a la Lost. He kind of looks the part, too.

^^ now that i have to see!! PICS

Coming up on 3 months old. He's learned his name, so I sometimes call him James or LeFleur so he can really get in character. ;)
