Well just watched it again and still love it, Smith still rocks, and it's still clearly a dream...

Can people stop refering to amy as a stripper? My understanding of a kiss o gram is that it's way tamer than a stripper or stripper gram. Is it a bit risque, a bit sexy, well sure, but I doubt very much she takes her clothes off, just arrives looking sexy, gives the guy a kiss and that's probably about it. Steven Moffat really does have a thang about ladies dressed as coppers though.

The scene where the Atraxi is scanning the Doctor and displays the images of the previous Ten Doctors and then the Eleventh steps through Ten's image gave me goosebumps.
That was actually my least favourite part. They didn't need to hammer home the idea that he's The Doctor by using media studies student level ideas of symbolism.

It was awesome, but it wasn't symbolism. They literally showed all The Doctors and many of his deeds. How is any of that symbolic? It's just history.

My only problem with the montage is just that it came so soon after the similar one in The Next Doctor. Even though it was a cool introduction for Smith (and I wouldn't change a second of it), it couldn't help but feel a tad repetitive.

Goodness knows what Moff was thinking with having Amy not turn around while the Doctor was changing. I guess between him gobbing up food and her insisting on seeing his nob, that's the heavy-handed shitcom writer in him.

Hmmm. You're totally welcome to feel that way. But, I have to say...man, unclench.
:)

:guffaw:Oh dear God, The, that's fabulous, and probably sums up in one word what so many of us have tried to express to Bones for a while now.

sir, I salute you. :techman:

This was downright awesome! I loved everything about it! Matt Smith is perfect as the Doctor. Amy Pond is a bit more of blank at this point. We learned more about her childhood than herself as an adult, which is totally fine. We've got time to flesh it out.

Most people are more familiar with strip-o-grams then kiss-o-grams. I had to look up the difference myself; but they're clearly not the same thing.

So much the sadder. :(

I'm sorry, but I can understand paying someone to show up and take off their clothes in front of strangers - how badly off is the celebrant at these parties that no one attractive can be found to kiss them in public other than for a fee?

I don't believe we have kissograms in the U.S.

^

It's a pretty outdated thing to be fair. I don't think I've ever heard the term outside of reading The Beano until now.

That's not from Doctor Who, I think it's from a comedy programme she did - the kevin bishop show!

We used to, and still do if you look hard enough. They've largely been replaced by strip-o-grams since around the 80's.

I know that there's been debate thus far about when exactly this episode takes place in relation to the events of Series 1-4, but is it pretty well assumed by all that it happes after 2008 and the Dalek invasion in Stolen Earth/Journey's End? So that humanity (after all that goes on from 2005-08) is already pretty well used to the idea that from time to time, aliens descend and threaten to destroy the planet/enslave mankind/turn them into copies of disgraced UK Prime Ministers and so forth?

Silly me with my opinions. I am so unlike everyone else in having them.

Don't know if you can accept the cars in the background as determing the date as there were a couple that had "55" plates, and none later than this, implying that the year was late 2005. I only noticed it because in the 1st season episode Fear Her, it was set in 2012 and they had cars in the background with the proper registration for that year.

Editing error. The Doctor feels pain from the key in his pocket BEFORE he feels pain.

Could anybody sense the budget cuts for Doctor Who, apart from the stripped down website?

Well, there don't seem to be any more downloadable commentary podcasts, for one thing... :( :( :(

It may be close in terms of number of stories, but to be fair, "The Next Doctor" was in 2008, and we're now in 2010, so.... :p

LOVED it! Absolutely loved it! Matt Smith was incredible. Rather cute too. I wouldn't have turned around either. :)

If that's all you took away from that scene it's not my place to tell you any different. I personally found the current Doctor walking 'through' the image of the previous Doctors (and 'destroying' the image whilst doing so) to be highly symbolic.

Hmmm...that seems like something that would have to be the result of a conscious decision on the part of the set design people...wouldn't it be too coincidental to have no cars at all with newer registrations? Or am I overthinking it? :)
