Re: Doctor Who – The 11th Hour (5x01) - (Discuss – Grade | SPOILERS) U
I was going to hold the fantastic until a few more episodes down the line, but I can't. That was honestly one of the most squee-worthy moments I think I've ever had with this show. I'm not sure if being a 25 year old guy makes that weird or not, but come on, a year with no Doctor Who other than specials and then we get
that?
I absolutely had a blast with that episode. It felt so fun, and oh so Doctor Who. I thought maybe it would take me a while to get used to Smith, but honestly, he got better as the episode went on. I knew by the end (especially when he called back the alien ship) that I was watching the Doctor in his greatness. If this is how the Matt Smith era starts, I just wonder what it will be like in, say Matt Smith year two (How am I supposed to call these new seasons now. I think it will be MS-1 and MS-2 or something.

).
Amy/Amelia was great too. The younger version was surprisingly great and I liked Gillians performance here. I think she will take some time to get used to moreso than Smith will. Hopefully this relationship can be evolving naturally and they keep this kind of relationship instead of including love into it.
As for the theme, I've watched it twice, and I actually am starting to get used to it. I kind of liked the simplicity of the Tennant/Eccleston themes though, but the new effects are actually kinda cool. The new Tardis is great too, even though I really hope we can see that Swimming pool. I can definitely tell Moffet wanted a new spin on the Doctor (I actually wonder why they didn't mention the meaning of "Tardis" this time for newer viewers) and so far so good.
That trailer to the new season was awesome, but what was it the Doctor said at the end. The music was loud and I couldn't hear it.
Overall, this episode brought a big smile to my face. Doctor Who is back, and I can't wait to see how this season develops and the ride we're about to go on.
