In the latest podcast from Damon & Carlton they indicate that questions that are important to the characters will get answers, and strongly hint that anything that is not important to the characters will probably not get an answer.
In other words, prepare for a lot of things to never be answered. They did mention the canoe shooting scene, and it sounds like that is one of many things that will never be addressed.
They are using the ever-popular "we don't want to dictate to the audience what everything means" cop-out to cover for lazy writing.
Wasn't he just really drunk/stoned on pain pills? Two more occurred to me.
1. In the flash-forward when Jack was falling apart in the hospital he makes mention of his father as if her were still alive. What was that?
2. I know we haven't been told the rules of the alternative universe yet, but how did Alex wind up an American teenager in Los Angeles? Shouldn't she be in France?

1. Why were the Dharma Initiative food drops still being made years after the Dharma Initiative died?
Eloise Hawking is doing it from the Lighthouse according to Mysteries of the Universe webisodes.
Dead Christian has been all over the place. He even has his own webisode. There is something going on there, & I really hope it gets addressed, & expect it will

I'm fairly confident it already has. Dead Christian is the same thing as Dead Locke. Smokey took on the guise of Christian to manipulate people into doing what he wanted. What he wanted was Locke (the real one) to go back off the island, die, come back on the island so Smokey could then manipulate someone into killing Jacob. And it worked. So far. It's lost, who knows where it's headed but I sincerely doubt it's headed to a place where smokey wins.
Nope, imo, definitely not the same entity. Dead Alex Rouseau was the smoke monster. Dead Yemi (Eko's brother) was the smoke monster, & when Eko spoke to him as if he was Yemi, he admitted he wasn't. Dead Christian has openly called Jack his son, more than once (Though once was in a webisode)Dead Christian has been all over the place. He even has his own webisode. I really like that theory. It's quite logical, given what we've seen with time phenomenon & it only occurring once1. Why were the Dharma Initiative food drops still being made years after the Dharma Initiative died?

But are those canon?
My theory has always been that the drops were being made in the 1970s, when DHARMA was active. But just as people leaving the island have to take a certain bearing or they end up in the wrong timeframe, the plane coming in with the food that one time was slightly off course and arrived at the island 30 years later than its pilot had intended it to, much like Ray's body washed up on the island when he was still alive and on the freighter.
Alternatively, the food drop took place during a lockdown, and the timer in the Swan would have hit zero during the lockdown as well. Perhaps there was an electromagnetic buildup that caused the plane making the drop to be pulled off course, again resulting in a time differential. After all, if memory serves, we've only actually seen the one food drop, back in S2, and it seemed to be connected to the lockdown somehow.

This plus instances of Christian being off island, & also Claire referring to them as different entities, has me almost certain they are not the same
