Another small, old ship...

And then the neck was done.

More later. :)

You might think about throwing some more texture on the spec and bump maps. Give it a little grit and imperfections. Even just a procedural overlay would be a nice touch.

Looking good, but it's bothering me that the name of the ship is upside-down while the registry number is rightside-up.

Just my humble opinion, but I'm not sure about some of those smaller panels on the underside of the saucer. They'd look fine on a larger ship, but as it is they're smaller than the portholes! The juxtaposition of these different elements just seems a little odd.

BTW - the topside of the saucer is fab - both familiar and completely original!

Here's an example of how i've been doing my spec maps for a while :

I'll use my color map, de-saturate it, and them up the contrast by 100%. Is there a better way to do it? I've seen some textures where the spec map is very different from the color map, and some that do it this way.

I see what you're saying, but I don't think I'll change it yet. There are quite a few small panels on the secondary hull too; I think Judexavier's intention was that they were all covers over various things. What I was thinking, is that each of those larger sections come off in one large piece, with the smaller panels covering up the equivalent of "bots" that hold the covers on. Does that make sense?

the smaller panels are gas cap doors. :bolian:

OK, fixed the font. After RoJoHen mentioned it, it was driving me nuts. :)

Thanks. :)

I think I got everything fixed up tonight...

I have a few tweaks left, but thought I would get those ortho's out to everyone. :)

Have fun, guys...

Question. You've got the registry and name spotlighted. Where is that light source coming from? Reflectivity might be a touch high on the hull.

That aside it's gorgeous! :techman:

Gorgeous! Wonderful! I want to do a TV show now! :)

I guess we need a Klingon or Romulan :)
You know it just occurred to me that I completely forgot to consider any weaponry...oh except for that brief "deflectors as weapons" notion. I guess they could be hidden under some of those panels.

Wonderful job, Madman.

:)

I Klingon bird of prey would go great alongside this ship... it would be in the right size category, anyway.

I tried adding a phaser bank to the bottom of the saucer, but it was too big... and it it looked tacked on... maybe they can be inside that lower dome, so that when it fires phasers, it looks like the original TOS Enterprise?

I also had an idea about where the impulse engines are... at the back of the nacelles, you have those two slits, right before the discolored "overheated" looking areas. Maybe those are the impulse exhausts?

I'm looking forward to building your shuttle, next. :)
