Kate Mulgrew not a J/C'er!!!!

The real Seven said "Do you wish to copulate?" in a robotic voice (and if someone finds that racy... oh well :rommie: ).

No one referred to it as "racy" except you in your quote above.

...she's hardly the most passionate, spontaneous person around.

I'm not aware that anyone said she was except in your quote above.

Evil men wouldn't try to do that because, as noted above, she could rip them apart. :p

The one who postulated the evil men in the first place was you. You said, "Oh, I'm sure there are loads of guys who get off on that" referring to men who would take advantage of Seven.

I guess if you just argue with yourself, you can't lose.

Um... no. I don't blame you for forgetting what the debate is in the first place, but let me remind you: exodus claimed that Chakotay wouldn't be into Janeway because he was into racier women with their wild rebellious nature, and that he seemed mostly interested just in sexual gratification (he never explained what this was based on). I observed that, if this were the case, it certainly wouldn't explain why he would go after Seven. Seven is hardly someone you'd describe as wild and racy, is she? exodus didn't agree. And here we are...

You understand that this was a part of the explanation why Seven trying to have sex with Harry (or anyone else) would have been as awkward as her trying to date and dance with whatshisname?

Evil men wouldn't try to do that because, as noted above, she could rip them apart. :p

Uh... no. I never said anything about any "evil men" or "taking advantage". You are the one who came up with that. It looks like you're the one arguing with yourself.

I merely said that, yes, I am aware that some guys would find the fact that a female happens to be a virgin and sexually/emotionally immature particularly appealing. There are plenty of people (female as well as male) who are attracted to awkward, sexually restrained or inexperienced, emotionally childlike people (particularly if they are good-looking) and would get off on the idea of being the one to introduce them to the world of romance and sex, so to speak. :borg: But that's on the opposite end of the spectrum from being attracted to "racy", wild women who are great for fun and casual sex, as exodus claimed Chakotay to be. I'd think Seven would be the last person on Voyager he'd turn to if that's what he was looking for.

I most certainly did when I explained that Seven was rebellous in nature by openly defying & questioning the chain of command. Which fits the personalities displayed by Seska, Tessa & in "Unforgettable". While you chose to only stay focued on the words "racy" & "wild" instead of trying to see how "rebellious" applied to the situation but I guess the constant eye rolling got in the way.

First, let me say that the "Ew gross!" factor went off the scale during the last page and a half.

Secondly, do you guys ever wonder if discussions like this one are what derailed and ultimately overrode more..."important" conversations in the writers room of Voyager? They absolutely shoehorned the romance between Seven and Chakotay in and the 11th hour at the expense of so many things that might have been. And it's noticeable.

Obviously, it's fun to discuss, but I think it either got too much attention in that they took time to dream up stuff like this at all or it didn't get enough because they didn't get to the point of realizing how stupid it would be.

Like I said before, I could be possable TPTB wanted J/C in the finale but Mulgrew again vetoed it. So C/7 might have been a quick re-write on the spot to give Chakotay some type of conclusion.

Exodus did not say that "Do you wish to copulate" said by Seven in a robotic voice is racy. You did. Look above and you'll see your quote. You are trying to put words in his mouth.

No. The man hating comment that you made was:
Oh, I'm sure there are loads of guys who get off on that. Emotionally confused teenage virgins scared of sex (and Seven is emotionally barely more than a child)

*facepalm*

Please work on your reading comprehension. The key is to understand that an entire text - in this case, post - is about, instead of isolating one sentence at a time and taking it in the most literal meaning possible.

I don't care what issues you have, get over them already. Write a blog or something where you can complain all day about terrible man-haters on forums that you have uncovered, whatever. This is getting really ridiculous. Or rather, even more ridiculous than a few posts before. It doesn't even have anything to do with the topic anymore. I'm not wasting any more of my time on this nonsense.

My reading comprehension is fine--you just don't like being called on your putting words into the mouths of others.

You're the one maligning men. I've maligned neither men nor woman.

Now let's get back to the discussing the series and stop attaching your fellow posters. They don't have to agree with you.

Yep, because taking "racy" & "wild" and only focusing on that and not the full explaination on how is a perfect example.

I think this entire thing could have been avoided if the original statement were more along the lines of

"Chakotay went with Seven because she was more of what he (as a former Marquis) wanted to be; a rebellious, self assured person, with the guts to do what she thought was right without reserve as opposed to Janeway who is, at times, a fanatical rule follower."

Instead it came off as "Janeway isn't sexy or fun and Seven is so he went with her" just because of the language that was used. After having read that entire back and forth I think it was a misunderstanding of intent on both sides... which then got gross haha.

(For the record I think it's crazy to assume Seven is on par with a regular person when it comes to sexuality. She self identified as a Borg. Can you just imagine the problems that would cause? I just added to the "Ew Gross!" factor and with that I'm out.)

Fair enough.

However if you took time to understand it & so did Zameaze, was there real that much of a misunderstanding or did it just require some reflecting on what was said?

I think, as things like this so often do, it took being someone who didn't make either the initial claim or the initial objection.

^^
Borg sex? Thousands listening and watching you have sex? Ah, the '60s all over again.

It's possible because of the interconnection of all Borg minds that any individual memories could be accessed by all. I would imagine that knowledge of how to preform the act and even why, were common knowledge to all.

The Borg didn't eat or sleep (also actions that give pleasure). These were replaced by regeneration, maybe regeneration replaced all pleasure giving acts including sex.

I would think so.
Sex is linked to desire.
I would like to believe the Queen would know better than to allow such an emotion if she wants to keep her hive intact.
Desire can lead to ambition, ambition can lead to the desire of freedom. I believe that's what the emotional dampers are put in place for.

I see what you're saying, but on the other hand animals like ants and bees with hive minds do have a little sex now and again. Maybe the Borg could be written either way.

..but Borg don't procreate, so sex shouldn't be an issue.

Not that we've seen. But then again, I did hear that the insidious queen showed her drones pictures of Janeway and Chakotay copulating, and from then on the sickened drones were happy with just assimilating.

:guffaw:

Yeah, I heard it started out with Janeway doing a strip tease to "Nasty Girl".
