Alright, played with a few things...
I played with back-lighting some of the parts, and got rid of the really heavy glows. I also tried to add some of that diffused glowing look, thanks to Gep Malakai's link... I think it turned out OK. I also upped the spec (which is what the ramp shader is applied to) and turned up the Index of Refraction.
