It's still a double dip. Also you'll note the report, which is on a major entertainment news website, makes no reference to November. First I've heard of it myself. And if I've not heard of it and I darn near live on the Internet, a lot of other people haven't either, so some will buy this and find out the special edition is coming later. Hence, double dip.
You have people whining about double dips for releases that are YEARS apart, so a few months pretty much makes this a textbook case.
When I first saw the headline my thought was maybe this is being released as some sort of Earth Day fund-raiser. That would be a different story. But no such sign according to this.

The same article also mentioned a planned 2012 rerelease of Titanic (and in 3-D!!!) to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the sinking.
It does shock me that double-dipping is actually a viable form of DVD marketing. Are there enough people who actually don't object to buying multiple versions of the same movie that somehow justifies continuing the practice?
I don't think that its been made clear yet on how the deleted scenes will be presented in the extra DVD.

You've got to be kidding. This has been standard practice for 10 years now, ever since New Line with their LOTR films announced up front that they would do it. (and even before that it happened frequently - New Line were very open about it, though)
Hey, at least they are up front about it. No surprise releases coming down the line.
