Another no suprise there for Sandra Bullock.
Good to see that tonight's winners for best actor and actress are enjoying their first win.
she kinda irks me... dunno why.
Yeah does sorta make you want to root for the first timers. Although you feel bad for the ones who've been nominated time and again and they never get the brass dude.

Indeed. She's a good person and she's done some good movies over her, still moving, career. She's very genuine and real. So, yeah, real good for her.

Yay for common ground! I'm glad you enjoyed Avatar, and I've enjoyed our debate over it's visual merits.
In fact I've discussed nothing but if you want to get into story that's a whole other topic....
Do you think, with its effects and story taken in aggregate, that it deserves a win for best picture? Like I said I wasn't impressed in the least with the plot and dialogue, but they've handed the award to worse.
That's tough, it is a decent experience in total, but my problem with both it and Trek is with a pedestrian story, I felt like I've been through those story beats before. I don't think it'd be a crime if it won but I haven't seen all the nominees and thought it through to say which is truly best.
So has Cameron paid off everyone yet for his Oscar?
