Any other TOSers give up post-Abrams?

Nah, I'm a TOS fan from the beginning and I'm more interested in what happens next with Star Trek than I have been in many years - and that's thanks to Abrams's movie.

That's where I sit as well. Abrams' movie has me more excited about Trek than I have been since ST VI.

I consider nuTrek more of an "alternate" Trek, but (she says after watching the movie two days ago,) I like the Abrams Trek, so for me, Trek isn't quite over.

Even if it was, I have so many DVDs and books, Trek won't end until either I give up on it, or I drop dead.

Who'd have thunk it would last so long? When I was 13, I thought I had missed it, but it was only at the beginning. :)

What I saw was not evolution, it was regression.
And you're welcome to have that opinion.

But don't think you're speaking for anyone other than yourself.

Or that particular opinion is objective fact.

There are precious few folks here who ever come off as being objective on any subject they feel is worth expressing an opinion about. If they were objective, they probably wouldn't bother.

Not to renew complaints or beat a dead horse, but-

I just don't care anymore where Trek goes. For me it's now all locked up in the past; a very pleasant past which I'll continue to enjoy, again and again.

I did not care for the film, I wish them all luck, and I'm glad that a new audience has been found -- but it is not my Trek. I'm retreating to my DVDs and novels.

(And let me add that today's news that fans are "incensed" that the recent movie didn't get an Oscar nod for best picture is laughable.)

I think it was just nice to see Kirk & crew back on the screen, even if they were portrayed by different people. It was action-packed, and people like that. I like all Trek, but this film was a nice change of pace.

I'm a bit of a fan of TOS myself, having grown up watching the original when it was the only Star Trek series, but am loathe to call myself a tosser (TOSer)... :p

And, actually, I loved the Abrams film - it was a nice nostalgia trip...

Given up on Star Trek? Not by a long shot.

Given up on AbramsTrek? Yeah, the prospects of anything coming out of that pit with an IQ higher than a typical episode of Teletubbies is pretty remote.

This is kind of where I am. My favorite Trek in the future will probably be trekfic. Assuming that TOS books will still be published. Of course I hope that the next film will be smarter and better, but the odds against it are pretty high.

I am die hard TOS fan, and I certainly didn't love the movie, but I want to see what they do next with the films. I still watch my DVD's and have my novels, but I want to see what is coming next. If you look at the TOS and TNG movies, the quality of one was often not suggestive of what the quality of the next one would be, so we shall see.

They may not come off as being objective, but there are still those who continue to peddle their opinions, assumptions, and speculations as objective fact even when they are obviously being subjective.

I started out as a fan of TOS when growing up (TNG came out when I was halfway through high school) and have enjoyed all the other series (Enterprise being the exception, but I'd still rather watch that any anything else on TV now), with TNG and DS9 being my most favorite Star Trek shows. I enjoyed the new movie, despite it's flaws, and will at least see each new one as the come out once. But I will reserve judgement on them either way until then.

As for long term enjoyment, there are always the novels, and those have typically been better than televised (and movie) Star Trek for as far back as the Voyager/DS9 years.

I'm just fan of all Star Trek no matter what show or movie is out there,I just love Star Trek.Anyways,I wasn't even born when TOS first came out,but I remmber watching the reruns of the show when I was young. At first I might of not like but hey I was just a kid.Anyways the more I watched it over the years as I was growing up,I begain to change my mind about it.The more I watched it the more I liked it.Anyways,I really love show and have for quite sometime. As new shows and movies came over the years I grew into liking those as well. However there is one show I never got into and it was DS9.I didn't think it was as good as the others and even watching it now I just can't get the feel of liking it.But of course that's with all of us,we have some shows and movies we like better than others and there are ones we just can't get into liking. However I love all the shows except DS9, and I do love all the movies espically this one.So I see nothing wrong with this movie one bit.

As a lifelong TOS fan, who started watching the show during its original run on NBC, I think the new movie is the best thing to happen to STAR TREK in years. And does a better job of capturing the verve and spirit of the original series than some of the later sequels and spin-offs.

TOS isn't over. It's back in a big way.

And it is pretty easy for readers to discern for themselves whether or not those views are being supported/corroborated by fact or just presented that way. The most obnoxious subjective posts I see here are the one-liners that are simple declarations or dismissals; it is as if whoever makes the most posts (regardless of content), wins -- though what they're winning, I can't hazard a guess.

On this, we can agree.

It may be different people playing the iconic TOS characters but they were all great what did you think?

I agree,I think they all did a fantastic job.I thought the new big three ( Pine,Quinto and Urban) was awsome as Kirk,Spock & McCoy.They just nailed those parts well! I can't wait for the sequel!
