Because they want you to buy the game new. Of course, if you can find the game used for 15 dollars less than the retail price... you break even.

Just a question for those who finished ME2.. how far along am i?

I've gotten the Reaper IFF and am waiting for the crew to install it. Meanwhile i'm doing some sidequests including finishing the last loyalty missions for my crew (Tali and Legion are pending). How much is there left after i go through the Omega 4 relay?

^ Besides the loyalty missions you only have one mission left.

Because DLC like Zaeed (and Shale in DAO) are only available with new copies of the game, and not used copies. EA and BioWare are trying to entice people to buy new rather than used by including "bonus" characters.

You're at the end game pretty much and can go after a certain mandatory event happens. Depending on how you want your game to end up though, you may want to go back and set it up so that you finish all your loyalty missions before getting the IFF.

    Finished this morning:)

I thought it was great overall, though there were one or two moments with graphical issues. They might be fixed with updated drivers when they come out though. I'd also have liked some more party banter for times when you're not in combat. (Like Dragon age for example)

Zaeed himself isn't worth the wait, but his loyalty mission is. It has one of the better moral dilemmas of the game because you can't have your cake and eat it too.

I encountered two major glitches in the game (Xbox 360) and I'm wondering if anybody else had anything like them:

In the fight between Samara and Morinth the sound cut out and only came back after I made the decision to kill Morinth. I played through the scene a second time and it happened again.

During the space battle at the galactic core the screen kept cutting to black for a second and caused the audio to go out of sync, and sometimes the frame-rate dropped to a crawl. Once again, I went back to my save-file before the jump through the Omega 4 relay to replay the scene and it happened again.

Other than those I only had minor graphic problems.

A lot of people had the glitch in your first one. I'm hoping it's patched eventually.

I think that has to do with the game detecting and playing the right scenes to go with how you upgraded the ship. The memory thing might be overcome by loading your ME2 disc 1 on to the HDD, but it just could be that you were playing for a while and the heat was starting to affect the Xbox.

Couple questions. 1) Is there any reason to waste the money on the medbay upgrade about removing scars? Does it affect the end of the game? 2) So I recruited everyone but Tali and did all their loyalty missions, then I recruited Tali. I still haven't learned how to recruit the final member... and Tali's loyalty mission hasn't appeared yet. Do I have to do the Reaper IFF mission to unlock those two things now? It seems to be the only thing left to do. 3) On the picking up datapads for the Omega guy mission, I went to Eternity bar on Ilum and there's nothing there. I already did the one on Citadel and delivered it to the guy on Omega. Glitch? 4) If I never play a character should I waste the money on their personal upgrades? There's one for Jack but I never use her. Does this factor into the end game?

I think how much you upgrade individuals can have an impact on who lives and who dies, not sure though.

As for the datapad mission, I think it's glitched since I did Ilium first and found nothing on the Citadel. Plus after I resolved it by other means, it stayed in my journal as incomplete, even after the guy had gone.

As for getting Tali's loyalty mission to appear, try scanning and exploring and you should pick up a few N7 missions. That should kick things into gear.

I didn't get it and I survived the suicide mission on my first Veteran playthrough.

It's a weird upgrade cause if you play Paragon, you lose your scars anyway and if you play Renegade you look like such a spooky badass with your bright scars and eyes.

...why they don't use it on Garrus seems rude to me.

Loyalty missions only spawn when you complete other missions (and exhaust all dialog options with the character in question). It's why you can "screw yourself" if you complete loyalty missions (and N7 missions) before recruiting everyone.

Good, I was beginning to fear that my disc was defective. I just did that mission again this afternoon with my femShep and the problem happened for a third time.

I'd install it but I only have 2GB of space left on my HDD and I doubt that it would fit. I guess I'll have to buy a bigger hard-drive for it, although I might just shell out the money for a whole new Xbox because the warranty is about to run out on mine and I want a HDMI port.

    1) Med-bay is only for people that have an attractive renegade femShep, luckily my renegade femShep is rather plain. Unless you're worried about your Sheppard looking pretty there's no need to buy it.

    2) Don't do the IFF mission until you have already done Tali's loyalty mission, you're only given the chance to do one more mission after that and that should be left for the loyalty mission of the mystery character. If you're looking for things to do while Tali's loyalty mission generates do some uncharted world missions. There's a list of them here, you should be able to find at least 10.

    3) That mission is glitched, you'll get the credits and XP for completing it but it stays active in your journal.

    4) In the final mission you have to make a series of choices about which characters do which jobs, so even if you never use a character on your team you might find yourself assigning them an important job. Upgrading these characters helps them to survive, and in some cases other characters will die if the person you selected isn't up to the job.

Frankly, how it all works is still nebulous to me, but I want to keep it that way so that I'm not tempted to game the system in future play-throughs.

Pretty sure you can do whatever missions you want after the IFF mission, it's just that there are... consequences for it.

They can work on DLC for weeks or months after the discs are done and pressed - up until the day it comes out. Why hold the release of the game back for additional, optional content?

There`s a reason why they designed it in such a way that you can fit in a final loyalty mission before the game starts counting down to the end game anyway. I guess it depends on whether or not you want the optimum playthrough anyway.

Well, I feel like this was more marketing focused than the case of Shale - to the point where they had to create the Cerberus Network infrastructure before hand (and the whole janky BioWare social network EA profile thing) to accommodate the DLC. I almost have the feeling that Shale only existed because they came up with this DLC incentive for ME2 and decided to do it for their other game as well.

Now Kasumi? Assuming they spend more time on her and make her a fully fleshed out character rather than an NPC that spouts dialog at you... that'd be more understandable as DLC developed after the fact anyway.

OK, did a N7 mission and got the Tali loyalty mission. Now once I finish that... do I have to do the Reaper IFF mission to get the final crew member?

Yup, and then there's their final loyalty mission.

Oh dear, how badly have I screwed up in having 3/4 loyalty missions (Zaeed's, Thane's, the mystery character and maybe Samara's, can't remember if I did her's before or after) to do after the incident that happens due to the IFF incident?
