Mass Effect 2

It depends on how much you care about the 24 crew aboard the Normandy. If you don't go through the Omega 4 relay directly after your crew is captured most of them will die and be turned into a giant Terminator. That's doesn't affect things much, but it does mean no dancing Kelly.

So any N7 missions I wanna do, I need to do before Reaper IFF? How much actual game play is left in the game once you start this endgame?

Oh dear, how badly have I screwed up in having 3/4 loyalty missions (Zaeed's, Thane's, the mystery character and maybe Samara's, can't remember if I did her's before or after) to do after the incident that happens due to the IFF incident?

I know that the team you bring to the very last boss fight has to be loyal or bad things will happen. Other than that, I don't think anyone outside of Bioware is entirely sure exactly what loyalty does in the endgame.

It's possible that you could still get the optimal ending.

You can do the N7 missions after the game if you want.

The optimal ending thing depends on your definition... for the true optimal ending, you'll want to have done all the loyalty quests available before activating the IFF mission.

Is it just me, or is that outfit decidedly un-sexy?

Decided to have a little break off Mass Effect 2 so I went and played Mass Effect 1 . Doing a renegade female character with opposite Universe choices to my main character so I can experience a different Mass Effect 2 universe.

Later in week I will probably finish off Mass Effect 2 so I can read these spoiler tags ;)

That's because it's just the generic Asari stripper outfit.

So what are everyone's favorite two squad characters? I always use Miranda for her Overload ability and Samara once I got her, unless I'm fighting the Geth then I use Tali.

Garrus and someone else. I used Thane most often with Garrus, but I also used Miranda, Zaeed, Morbin, and Grunt a bit. I used Jack once and I have never used Jacob.

Won't say he's my favourite, but I did use Zaaed quite a bit primarily just as firepower. Used Miranda for her overload ability.

I also used Tali and Garrus for old times sake.

I didn't use Mordin much (though he does have his funny moments)

First playthrough I mostly used Miranda for warp/overload and Mordin because I wanted to hear him talk... and for incinerate. The two of them together can burn through a Harbinger crazy fast. I just started my second playthrough as a Sentinel which means I have warp/overload myself, so I may mix it up a bit more.

Tali is actually one of my favorite characters in ME... shame she's not that useful this time around if you're not fighting mechs/Geth.

To heck with "useful" - I love Tali to death, and brought her along on every mission the moment after I recruited her. :D

It means I'll need to do a second playthrough to finish off the Incinerate/Warp achievements, but oh well. I need a second anyways, as a guy, since I don't like any of the romance options for femShep. (Except maybe Jacob, but I still have qualms about anybody voluntarily signing up for Cerberus, as opposed to being railroaded into it by the writers.)

I rotated my squadmates a lot to make sure they'd all be levelled up for the last mission (I didn't realise until later they keep pace regardless) but Tali was a favourite, even back in ME1. I'm just finding having Grunt and Jack around can be fun for a Renegade with the little comments they make when you do something nasty.

Actually, one of the very few niggling things that I was disappointed about with ME2 was the overall lack of the squad mates commenting or interacting. In ME1 you'd occasionally have the two people with you spontaneously have a unique little conversation. It added a nice sense of depth as if your character isn't the centre of the universe.

What class is everyone favouring btw? I just looked at the Bioware website and noticed a poll right there on the homepage. So far out 69399 people, 42% voted soldier, 22% for vanguard, 16% for Infiltrator and just about everything else is in the 5 - 10% zone. Seams as though the powers aren't as useful as the preview clips made them look. That or most people are simply for comfortable with an out and out shooter.

"Flammable! Or inflammable! Forget which! Doesn't matter!"

My teams vary by mission. Miranda's usually a mainstay because she has strong attacks against tech and organics. I haven't really utilized Thane and Samara as much as I'd like to because they come so late in the game and Grunt mostly gets left on the Normandy because I'm a soldier and I don't want to waste a biotics/tech slot.

Garrus is usually a good choice when I don't know what I'm going into plus the nostalgia factor (Miranda/Garrus are an absolute killing machine on the final boss of the Tali recruit mission). I really wish I could justify bringing Tali out more but she's really been crippled against anything that isn't tech. I was hoping a maxed out combat drone would be useful but it's a complete waste of skill points.

I've been favouring the Engineer class, but that's just my personal preference.

As for squad mates, I rotate, but my personal favs are Garrus, Tali, Morden, followed by Miranda and Grunt. Now that I've unlocked Legion, I want to use him more, pity he only appears so late in the game :(
