In fact, if one finds American influence reprehensible it's worth noting that our nation and culture is one of the products of British colonialism.

As for "Dubya" Bush - he was an incompetent and should probably be on trial for war crimes. Certainly his veep Cheney should be.

But America's done with him, the sane citizenry regrets him, and this Adminstration is at least moving toward restoring our Constitution and the rule of law. That includes protecting the rights of all people under the law, and in most cases criminal trials for criminals like terrorists.

There was an interesting documentary shown last week of a US soldier who guarded prisoners at Guantanamo meeting two former prisoners he contacted through Facebook. He came over to the UK to meet them. It was surprisingly upbeat, despite the 3 years the former prisoners had spent in limbo.
