Dax Fans: Choose

It puzzles me all the time where the whole "Jadzia was a slut" things comes from. Remember when Navaros claimed that she slept with hundreds of people?

I think it primarily comes from Worf, who got jealous over nothing (and this led to Jadzia claiming to have slept with thousands of people, or something like that, which I think we can dismiss as just a way of yelling sarcastically at Worf).

Secondarily, there's the idea that she showed attraction to such weird choices, she must have gone through lots of more understandable choices first. But maybe she just had bad taste! (Or not, depending on your view of Worf, Boday etc.)
It was actually Ezri who finally lost it after Worf had been interrogating her and being a jealous idiot because she (Ezri) had talked to or had a dinner or something with Captain Boday, so he started questioning her if she had slept with him, who she had slept with, until Ezri had enough and shouted that sarcastically. I find it hard to believe that anyone actually took that seriously.

Yeah, you're right, I guess some people just think "Well if she slept with a guy with a transparent skull, she must have slept with everybody" but then how does one explain the fact that she never slept with Bashir, who was conventionally more attractive, and had been chasing her for years? Jadzia had an unusual taste in men - she told Kira that she liked Boday because of his other qualities, and that she didn't place that much importance on looks...

Eh, people always seem to criticize - Jadzia's "weird" taste in men, Kira's "boring" taste in men - you can never make everyone happy!

It may have something to do with:

Worf: Tell me...did Jadzia...she and...Boday...?

Ezri: ...I don't have to answer that question.
(And that was the scene when Ezri lost her patience with Worf...)

Sorry, but how was that Worf's business? OMG Jadzia had a life before she met him! Shocking!

And of course...her flirting with the fire-dancer--when she's about to get married to Worf.
Personally, I hate the nonsense with strippers at bachelor or bachelorette parties. But those things seem very common... Just out of curiosity, is every guy who had a stripper dance in his lap at his bachelor party considered a total slut?

edit: And I should perhaps point out that the reason why I find that particular custom disgusting is because is it an idiotic, ridiculous show-off. It has nothing to do with the groom/bride to be wanting to sleep with someone else, and everything to do with acting like idiots because that's what their friends expect of them and because they think this is the way to show that they're having "fun".

If the guy is the groom...shouldn't he be?

Eh, that's what I was referring to... The party is supposed to be in groom's honor, so he's supposed to act all happy that there's a stripper that his friends hired 'for him', no? At least that's the idea I get from movies and TV shows.

Shouldn't he be what? Considered a total slut? I don't know, do groom's friends consider him a slut when they hire a stripper 'for him'?

Me, I just think it makes them all look like morons.

Ah right, thanks for correcting that. I need to study up... can't go confusing my Daxes! :rommie:

True. Although I think Trek could do better than they have.

Agreed.

Yes, just ask the women in their lives. Even if the guy wasn't the groom, he'll never hear the end of it.

Star Trek almost never explicitly says when two characters have sex. A couple of exceptions are Worf and Ezri, because they later flat out say they had sex, and Sisko and Kassidy, because she ends up carrying his child. It's most often left for us to assume that the characters did, in fact, do the deed. Therefore, it's often left to individual viewers to decide if it's the case or not.

With Jadzia, I'm perfectly willing to believe that she had sex with at least Trajok, the ridged forehead alien in her quarters in "Playing God," Deral from "Meridian," Boday, and Worf in "Looking for par'Mach in All the Wrong Places." That's, at least, four guys in less than three years. Maybe I'm just hopelessly old-fashioned, but that seems like a lot to me. Also, she was always perfectly willing to use her flirty personality to get want she wanted from someone.

So, count me in the "Jadzia was a slut" camp.

It's not that much. A bit over average perhaps, but certainly not a lot.
Thar's a above average? *sigh of relief* I guess everyone else has a lot more boring sex lives than I thought. I feel much better about myself now. :)

(Or maybe that's just the average for Trek fans? :vulcan:)
