Cinderella story. Outta nowhere...

Well, people have been talking to me about this for a few days now, and this is the consensus:

1 - Coakley looked like an angry schoolmarm and ran a minimal and/or negative campaign.

2 - Brown is young and handsome and comes off as "one of the guys."

There was minimal mention of health care and no mention of any other "issue." Of course, everybody I've spoken to, with one exception, is female. Kind of makes me wish to see a poll broken down by gender. :rommie:

Gertch, I understand however your reasons in this instance are not enough to close the thread. Besides there is more than likely years and years worth left of Senator Brown topic. We'll see how it goes.

Oh no prob. Hopefully we will have years of discussion about him. We'll see how he shakes out.

I only mention the closing as my original intent of congratulations and doing the happy dance has been fulfilled. :)

Exactly. He has helped end this charade of a bill and will hopefully do the same for any new Obama initiatives that include taxes and power grabs.

I'm certainly dancing about it and every person I've talked to about it in real life has also been quite relieved that it's over.

Perhaps either of you two could explain to the rest of us here how this is a 'power grab'?

edited to add: So TLS won't answer. But perhaps Gertch?

especially in light of all the extra power Cheney got for the presidency.

That makes no sense.

White House caught in Democrats' crossfire

Hill Democrats are demanding that Obama’s brain trust — especially senior adviser David Axelrod and chief of staff Rahm Emanuel — shelve their grand legislative ambitions to focus on the economic issues that will determine the fates of shaky Democratic majorities in both houses.

And they want the White House to step up — quickly — to help shape the party’s message and steer it through the wreckage of health care reform.

“The administration has got to be in the forefront now, instead of throwing some meat on the track and seeing what the House can work out,” said New Jersey Rep. Bill Pascrell, expressing the frustrations also voiced by about two dozen Democratic elected officials and aides interviewed by POLITICO.

“I haven’t seen Rahm Emanuel except on television. We used to see him a lot; I’d like him to come out from behind his desk and meet with the common folk,” added Pascrell.

“What happened was they got so caught up in all these other issues like health care and cap and trade and all this other stuff, that because of that they maybe didn’t put enough focus on the economy,” said Minnesota Rep. Collin Peterson, a moderate who represents a conservative, rural district hard-hit by the economic crisis.

Damn, it *is* about jobs. Who'da fuckin' thunkit?

^ They've got a point. People are in dire need because they can't find jobs. I know first hand how bad Ohio is getting it's rear end kicked from unemployment. It's worse in other places, too. Whether one is a Democratic or Republican Congressperson, jobs are vital. That's the biggest thing on people's minds. Yeah, health care is important, but right now people are losing their jobs, so what good is taxing someone's check for health plans when they're not making any money in the first place? Jobs. Job creation. Focus on that.

And if you look at every one of those polls you picked his disapproval numbers are still lower than his approvals.

That's really cool but that doesn't have anything to do with the question asked that he answered.
Actually, it does. If more people like him than dislike him it's not a factor in your favor.
