O'Brien out, Leno back in?

they don't have any problems selling them to the wealthy.

Even if that's true (which I doubt), selling such a car has to be a big deal for any car dealer, and availability can't be a problem in Los Angeles. ;)

Los Angeles might be full of rich people with money to spend, but even they'd have a hard time getting one of these cars considering how rare they are. Think about it--this is a car with barely over 200 units sold in 4 years, meaning you have to have some major connections to get your hands on it.

Numbers sold:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bugatti_Veyron#Sales_figures

* 2005: 5
* 2006: 44
* 2007: 83
* 2008: 68
* total: 200

I knew I could put all that Top Gear viewing to good use. :)

This is clearly Conan poking fun at Jay who's a car fanatic with a ton of money, but who doesn't own one of these (at least as of the end of last year). Hmm...maybe Conan DID actually buy it just to rub it in Jay's face. :lol:

I would have if I was him... Small price to pay in a knock down drag out like is going on in late night. Between rubbing it in Leno's nose and the fact that it is a really cool car.

He did look immensely happy during it though.

I'm not sure if this point has been made, but you have to give NBC a certain amount of credit for still airing The Tonight Show. Just because Conan tapes it, doesn't mean they have to air it.

That said, I don't think I've laughed so hard at any late night show for years as I did tonight. Between the Bear, the car, and Sandler, I was literally in tears through much of the first half of the show.

Why wouldn't they air it? Conan's ratings are soaring right now. They're NBC, they're desperate enough to milk it for as long as they can, even if they are getting trashed in the process.

Besides, what's the difference? Everyone else is making fun of NBC anyway so it's not like they could stop that. So they might as well make some money off of it. And the media would be absolutely murder them if they censor Conan now.

well, it's officially official: Conan is exiting NBC with 32 million, and he secured 12 million for his staff.

The deal will be announced this morning. Somehow I was hoping Leno would have the decency to bow out and let conan keep the tonight show. Boy was I wrong.

At this point I'm hoping when Leno returns as host of the tonight show, his ratings are so abysmal that NBC realizes just how big of a mistake they made.

I think Leno's ratings will be decent, he obviously has a group of people which support him since he still got the same ratings from his Tonight Show at 11:30 for his 10pm show. So that identified his support group. I think most of them would follow him back to the Tonight Show. Then he'll benefit from having a better 10pm lead depending on what NBC puts there the rest of the year possibly.

I don't know. Assuming that his 10pm viewers are identical with his former 11:30pm viewers is a stretch, and so is assuming that the people who watched his show at 10pm now will also watch him on late night. I think many people just watch tv and zap around until they find anything they are interested in, and don't turn on the tv for a specific show.

That said, I would be surprised if Leno won't be successful on the Tonight Show again also.

It's getting pretty personal between Letterman & Leno as well. I've been mostly following Conan (who's on fire and truly going out with a bang) but I've been watching clips of the personal battle going on between Letterman & Leno and wow... Talk about personal.

Huh. I've seen Letterman's side of it, but I hadn't realized Leno was firing back at him (other than the occassional joke about interns).

I'll have to track those clips down.

I'd LIKE to think the 10pm show has exposed to everyone by now just how lame and uninspired Leno's humor really is..... but sadly, I think you're right that he'll get the same numbers he had before.

There's just too many people who like that generic, mainstream crap.

The waiting list to purchase a Bugatti Veyron is more than a year. He didn't buy the car.

It was a sketch on a late-night comedy show, people. Do you think the bear is actually diddling itself, too?
