O'Brien out, Leno back in?

OH MY GOD, watch Letterman's desk segment - totally serious takedown of Jay

"he said that we should not blame Conan for what's going on.......... and I said to myself................. no one is blaming Conan!"

He spent almost five minutes on the "Don't blame Conan!" comment.

Wow is it gonna suck when this whole debacle calms down. late night is more entertaining than it's been in years.

Conan really went after NBC in a real way tonight... spent $1.5 million on a comedy segment where the entire point was to spent as much money as possible.

I just saw the clips on Gawker... my god, Conan's show was phenomenal... even the Sandler bit was great

Considering how rare that car is, I seriously doubt he was able to buy it on a few days' notice. I don't think NBC would let him spend $1.5m without going through the proper channels either. Now the music licensing was probably real given how much the music cartel charges for the rights to use clips of music. :lol:

The skit was still funny though.

Been following this on Gawker, some pretty funny shit's been going on. Letterman is pretty spo-on with his analysis.

And I hope Conan does another bit to see how much money he can spend. That was gold.

Hehe, Conan really leaves the show with a bang. :lol:

I have no idea whether he's allowed to make such a purchase, but I imagine any car show room that was stupid enough to get a Veyron (and there have to be a couple in LA) would be more than happy to give it away on a moment's notice.

He just looked so genuinely happy during that bit, he really sold it. :techman:

Considering the number of these cars IN THE WORLD is in the low hundreds and its engine design blows away every other car out there by a metric shit-ton (the thing has over 1,000 HP), they don't have any problems selling them to the wealthy.

It's getting pretty personal between Letterman & Leno as well. I've been mostly following Conan (who's on fire and truly going out with a bang) but I've been watching clips of the personal battle going on between Letterman & Leno and wow... Talk about personal.

Even if that's true (which I doubt), selling such a car has to be a big deal for any car dealer, and availability can't be a problem in Los Angeles. ;)

Los Angeles might be full of rich people with money to spend, but even they'd have a hard time getting one of these cars considering how rare they are. Think about it--this is a car with barely over 200 units sold in 4 years, meaning you have to have some major connections to get your hands on it.

Numbers sold:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bugatti_Veyron#Sales_figures

* 2005: 5
* 2006: 44
* 2007: 83
* 2008: 68
* total: 200

I knew I could put all that Top Gear viewing to good use. :)

This is clearly Conan poking fun at Jay who's a car fanatic with a ton of money, but who doesn't own one of these (at least as of the end of last year). Hmm...maybe Conan DID actually buy it just to rub it in Jay's face. :lol:

^^^
Hehe, he should have dropped a piano on the Veyron or something, maybe that would have even solved his problem when Leno dies from a heart attack. ;)
