Looks awesome. Can't wait for March. Not a fan of that song at all though.

Agreed. While WRPGs are awesome and alot of fun, they are fundamentally different from JRPGs; to the point where they really are two different genres. There's enough room in the world for both if you ask me. That being said, I do think that Final Fantasy is losing ground to other JRPGs. I haven't been in love with a Final Fantasy since FFX and I don't think that FFXIII will suck me in. With JRPGs like Persona 3, 4, and Tales of Vesparia, Final Fantasy is no longer the king of JRPGs.Well, SquareEnix whoring FF13 and 14 aside, JRPG mechanics and storytelling are still different enough from WRPGs that it's still worth playing both.
WRPGs still can't get NPC interactions right, for example, and the further down they go toward the more open gameplay rabbit hole, the less likely they'll be able to make NPC interactions interesting.
Heck, Dragon Age relies on scripted dialog scenes to show the NPCs interacting with each other. The only thing they've done is just have those scenes play while you're walking around the world instead of cutting to a non-interactive scene altogether.

Here's a random bit about how 2ch people responded to an IGN article pointing out all the problems with JRPGs. It's kind of cute to see how people in Japan may see Western games.
