As talented as Kiffen might be, I don't think that this will go well for the probation prone USC.

I don't think USC is "prone" to probation. When was the last time they were sanctioned?

But yes I fear they are "probation bound". I'll be interested to see just how much the USC staff knew, and when they knew it. McKnight's SUV thing just seems stupid and trivial. But Bush's parents living in a million dollar mansion while making $26.000 a year seems a little suspicious...



Combined with the basketball investigation, I think the NCAA will find a lack of institutional control. And the key players won't even be there to suffer the consequences.

The more I learn about what has happened and is alleged to have happened, the more I think some type of punishment is coming down and hard.

Combined with the basketball investigation, I think the NCAA will find a lack of institutional control. And the key players won't even be there to suffer the consequences.

It's that last sentence that has people like mne upset. Granted, we don't know all of the details yet, but we do know where it seems to be pointing. I've admired the way USC resurrected itself from uncharacteristic doldrums to a national power again. But the cost is becoming too much anymore.

In tandem with this, what bugs me most is that while the hiring of Kiffin & Co. is something of a coup for the USC athletic department... it leaves the players at Tennessee hung out to dry. The guy they were recruited to play for, who promised to be there, has up and skipped town. Now those same players would have to wait a year if they wanted to play for a school in the same division, say their second choice when they decided on Tennessee. That just doesn't feel right. I know... they get scholarships and are supposed to come for an education. It still doesn't seem at all fair for a coach's contract to have so little meaning while the athletes are bound to their choice.

I guess I should have said that they should have picked a less controversial person who could help re-build the image of USC instead of someone who might reinforce it.

As a USC fan I am very happy with this hire (more for the great assistant coaches than the head coach, though he has potential too).

I fully sympatize with Tennessee fans for suddenly losing the head coach a couple of weeks before the recruiting deadline, SC was in the same position a few days ago.

If Tennessee can get Muschamp then that would be a great hire for them.

He denied it in his press conference of course, but who do you believe -- someone with Kiffin's history, or Brandon Willis' father who said Orgeron offered his son a scholarship to USC?

So instead they got Louisiana Tech's Derek Dooley, who has a losing record in three years as a head coach.

Louisana tech is one of those schools meant to have a losing record.. they are a doorstop team for the big names to play as warmups. That Cutcliffe even had some decent wins means he may be a pretty good coach.

Plus his time with Saban at LSU and Miami was good.

Now they just need to sell him to the recruits - that won't be easy.
