Star Trek Concordance -- One More Time!

We ain't talking gene splicing here. Except for a handful of updates, the text is essentially written. It's a matter of retrieving that text, inserting the artwork where appropriate, and making it all look more like the '76 version than the '95. This is stuff I find incredibly easy. And, it's a project I happen to believe in.

*shrug* I don't know about anyone else, but I'm pretty bored with your comments in the thread. I can't decide if you're trying to rewrite Bjo's book, or "helping" or having no involvement at all, because you've said all three, and I just don't care anymore. My interest in the book is now zero. So I'll spend my money elsewhere. Thanks.

I for one am just reluctant to spend money on a product that will end up going into the pockets of a fellow who insulted me and everyone else who enjoyed ST09 by ranting and raving about how we "don't know when [we're] being had" and how it's "disturbing" that we could forgive a plot implausibility for the sake of entertainment, and generally made it clear he thinks he's intellectually superior to ST09 fans.

Agree with the last two posts. You haven't exactly made a good run of customer relations (most of us here are/were potential consumers of a new edition of the Concordance) in this thread. I've got the '76 and '94 editions and that'll do me just fine at this juncture.

These.

Ditto.

Maybe, as a next project, the good Captain could republish and "improve" the upcoming Nutrek novels. ;)

Something to ponder, kids:

I'm sure everyone here knows Dennis Bailey. Lord knows we've locked horns enough times around these threads. I think he's an arrogant, condescending snob with a parochial view towards other fans and often wonder why the hell he's a Star Trek fan in the first place, considering all the disparaging remarks he's made about it over the years. We're polar opposites with regards to the movie.

However, I also think he's a very good writer, and outstanding CGI artist, and anything he's involved in is worth a good look-see. I'll probably even take a look at his "Polaris" project when he's finished with it. And I would welcome any artwork he might want to contribute to the Concordance. Same goes for anyone else who wants to contribute.

I'll admit that this particular exercise has been a tad frustrating, but in the long run, it's better that this get hashed out now, before anything has actually been done, so that by the time there's actually a product to hawk, I'm no longer an issue, or at least old news.

I'm beginning to get an idea of how Rush Limbaugh felt during the whole St. Louis Rams nonsense...

I don't think that's fair. I think Bailey is a guy who recognizes the philosophical B.S. that's part of Star Trek's baggage and has little patience for the tendency to embrace that B.S. as legitimate depth that some fans have, but I don't think he dislikes Trek, nor do I think that he regards himself as intellectually superior to others just because his tastes differ.

As well you should; it's a good comparison. Rush Limbaugh regularly makes racist comments on his radio program, and as such he shouldn't be surprised if it turns out that African-American football players are unwilling to become his employees. You've rather strongly insulted people who are fans of ST09 -- using language like "it's disturbing," claiming that we "don't know when we've been had," and generally making it clear that you think you're more clever than others because you didn't like a sci-fi action film -- and as such should not be surprised if the people you insulted are unwilling to spend money that might make its way into your pocket.

Add me to the list of people who aren't gonna buy this.

CRA, my unasked for advice is to not quit your day job, sales isn't your thing. :bolian:

Does the phrase "you're just digging yourself a deeper hole"?

You've already manage to piss off effectively everyone on here you were trying to market this thing to. I doubt when Bjo hired you it was with the understanding you'd actively attempt to alienate potential customers of hers.

But by all means continue; I'm enjoying the show.

For those you who think I'm engaged in some Machiavellian scheme to wrest control of the Concordance from Bjo (a physical impossibility, as anyone who knows Bjo can attest), it should comfort you all to know that Dayton Ward is also helping out on this one.

Go ahead, call him a racist, bigoted homophobe who hates JJ's movie. I dare ya.

But he hasn't come out with any of the vile hate mongering you have....................

I'm not aware of anyone calling you a racist or a homophobe. (Unless you're actually Rush Limbaugh, anyway, in which case I suspect Rush Limborg would like to get your autograph.)

But you treat people here like shit, so why should we be willing to spend money on one of your projects?
