Has Anyone Ever Regretted Getting a Cat?

I mean, cats hunt birds and fish...but do they hunt pigs? Is pork a normal part of their diet? It just seems weird.
My cat used to hunt rabbits. If it was meat, it was dinner for him. Best can ratter we ever had, rarely, rarely had a mouse problem when he was around.

Congrats.

May "comet" have many a year shredding the drapes and the couch covers and stealing the turkey off the counter top.

Congrats! Cute name. So, how old is he? What colour? Don't wait for special pics, post what you've got - I'm curious!

Okay okay! He's about two months old, maybe two and a half? Here are the only pics I have of him so far. He looks older in the one than he really is.

He's adorable!I'm glad you decided on getting a cat. They are great and will bring a lot of love and enjoyment to your lives.:)

I rescued a cat once who was a pisser. That was okaaaaaaay... until she pissed on the top of my stove and all the piss went into the oven and I could not get rid of it and turning the oven on was like having a cat piss sauna.

So yeah I kind of regretted that cat.

Um, usually if a cat is peeing anywhere other than their litter box, it means something is wrong (either they're pissed at you for something, or they're sick). They don't just do it for the hell of it.

The cat as very old and demented. Also deaf. Lovely cat though.

I had a friend whose cat was blind. It was born without eyes. Kinda creepy-looking, to see these empty sockets with eyelids hanging over them.

He was an outside cat, though. He used his whiskers and seemed to figure out how to echolocate with his meows, because he never ran into things.

Hi Kestra!,

For your cat situation, if you are the least bit skeptical..I wouldn't do it if I were you. Some people just aren't cat people or pet people for that matter and therefore will never EVER own a pet in their lifetime. For me, I love animals and have always had a dog or cat to keep me company. You do need to keep them watered, fed, and their boxes cleaned. I must warn you: cats can be sometimes very destructable! I tell you this because we have a cat who is using our wallpaper in our bathroom as a way to sharpen her claws! So be sure to also have a stratching post for the little stink! :D Our cats are freaking messy at times and I find myself most of the time swearing at both of them for making huge ass messes in their boxes!
I have a friend who is TERRIFIED of cats! She thinks that they are the devil's reincarnate waiting to get her! She's a longtime friend who was cleaning our house one day a long time ago and had happened to come across one of our cats in my closet. She went berserk and screamed: GET THIS THING OUTTA HERE!! OH LORD JESUS! :guffaw: I told her: it's just a cat! She said: I don't care, get it outta here! She HATES cats!

To the OP - Nope, never got one. Always been a dog person. Maybe because I used to break out when I was around cats when I was a kid.

Great!

^I believe your advice has come a bit too late.

Indeed.

So yesterday I didn't get home from class till after 11PM. Within the first fifteen minutes of getting home, Comet climbed all over the metal racks in the kitchen (he knows he's not supposed to), went in our bedroom, jumped on a nightstand, stuffed his whole face in a glass of water and knocked it over, and then jumped from the couch to our dining table (you know, the one with Waterford linens and crystal candlesticks).

*sigh*

He really did look adorable. And he makes the most adorable sounds, even when I know he's just sassing me.
