Anyone else think the Ironman 2 trailer is crap?

Holy crap that was a horrid trailer! That decreased my desire to see the movie BIG time. Looked like over the top B movie schlock to me.

I agree.

But I should also say that I wasn't a fan of the original film. It didn't have nostalgia going for it like Transformers did, and though Downey was great casting, all he could do was turn a rather safe script into a moderately entertaining film. There was nothing wrong with the first film, but nothing and I mean nothing, about it made me have any desire to sit through it again.

I didn't watch it. It's Iron Man 2, what else do I possibly need to know. It could feature Tony Stark having a 2 minute power nap in real time and I'd still go see it.

The trailer points to a sequel that tries to be too trying too hard to top the first and only making a schlock film in the attempt to go bigger.

Who the fuck's bright idea was it to use fucking Whiplash, is what I want to know. Whiplash. Christ.

yes, I did. It was a lot of fun, mixed with something I've never really seen (robots to cars etc) mixed with some humor, and Nostalgia. I mean the scene with Scorponok alone was more exciting than anything in Iron Man.

Like I said there is nothing wrong with IM. Plus, I have a lot of nostallgia for TF since I've been a fan for a long time, but in any case, the film was fun, and it delivered exactly what I paid for. With Iron Man all I get is a decent Downey performance. I'd rather watch Zodiac

Yes it wasn't an impressive trailer, IMHO. I, as the comic book illiterate peon that I am, found it rather poor, but then, what do I know? Transformers was a big hit, I'm out of touch, clearly.

The stupid-looking supervillain with the suit, right?

Just curious: Is there a way to do him where he isn't so silly, or is this 'true to the comics', as it were?

I fear this. Honestly, more than anything else, Iron Man reminded me of Pirates of the Carribbean.

Basically, both films have very solid, tongue-in-cheek lead performances from highly accomplished actors... but as films they're pretty mediocre, run-of-the-mill action adventure romps.

The rub of this comparison: Pirates too had sequels. Um.

I trust RDJ to not do crappy things. I'm sure he has in the past, but I've never seen it, so I have faith.

That's how I see Trek XI

I see.

I thought it was the biggest pile of shit I've ever seen.

It wasn't the best movie trailer I've ever seen, but the underlying movie looks like it'll be pretty fun. That's all I really care about.

I've not seen any movie trailer for something called "Ironman 2", but I've seen the "Iron Man 2" trailer and it looks... interesting but nothing in it blew me away. I still hold out hope since how well the first movie is and I think Faverau is a competent director.

But... Gary Shandling?

:wtf:

Everything looked forced to me. Since people are talking about Transformers as well. I enjoyed the first one but thought the second was boring as can be. Rarely are sequels as good as or better than the originals (See Rocky 2 and Star trek II) but somtimes they are WAY worse and I fear this will be the case with this movie.

Are you using Rocky II as an example of a superior sequel, or Star Trek II as an example of an inferior sequel? Because, either way, I have to disagree on at least one count. Not that the law of diminishing returns is usually wrong. Most sequels are less than the films that came before.
