OK, so I finally finished the first season!

I don't know... Beecher seems pretty crazy from all the abuse to me. I loved his revenge on Schillinger, but seriously... he gets thrown in the hole and there are no consequences for Schillinger? I loved Beecher's dancing during the riot, too. He seems to have checked out mentally, though--aside from his determination to get revenge on Schillinger.

I loved the riot episode--I can't wait to see what happened! Ack, cliffhanger!!! Alvarez finally grew some balls. It's about time! I liked him better in the last ep of season one than I have to this point.

O'Reilly is really, really manipulative. To the Nth degree. Totally not someone who can be trusted. What does he hope to gain by turning everyone else against each other? Now he's going after Said... he clearly likes unseating people in power.

Said is a pretty cunning guy... judicious but also with a clear agenda. I'm really curious to see what the outcome of the riot is for him personally.

Overall, really good first season... I'm looking forward to watching the next one!

Without giving anything away, there may come a point in time you might even feel sorry for him.

O'Reilly definitely becomes more complex in season 2. In season 1, he's only out for himself, but later you'll get to see him in a more vulnerable state, and you'll get to what he's like with the (very rare) people he cares about... which makes him more interesting, complicated and even sympathetic... but also, at times, even scarier and more screwed-up. (You know what everyone said about the incredibly fucked up Beecher/Keller relationship? I'm not sure that that is necessarily the most disturbing "love story" in Oz. It has competition.)

I'm on to the second season! I watched the first episode, "The Tip" (lol at the title). A great ep--I like that it felt more fluid than some of the eps in the first season, where it felt like it was divided into sections about each prisoner. I wasn't surprised to find out Whittlesly had killed Scott Ross, but at the same time, since Ross shot McManus, wouldn't it have been deemed a justifiable shooting? I mean, theoretically, that first shot would have been defending McManus, while the second and third, while maybe not technically justified, would have been post mortem anyway. So would she have really gotten into trouble?

I felt so bad for Augustus when he found out Dobbins was dead. Augustus really took to Dobbins right away--I wasn't sure why though. It didn't feel like an attraction thing. What do you guys think?

Does everyone want to get a piece of Beecher? It seems like all of the other prisoners look at him as a walking blow up doll. Loved when he bit the tip off of that guy's penis. It definitely seems like he's starting to internalize this stuff--in one of the last two eps of first season, he asked McManus if McManus wanted to touch his dick, like that would curry favor or something. Poor guy. I'm guessing with the penis biting incident, this is the last time someone will try to force themselves on Beecher???

1) Halfway through season 4, she admits to Sister Pete that she's fallen in love with Ryan, even though she feels bad about it.

2) They go on to have a platonic relationship for the rest of the series; she does refuse to run away with him, but not before being torn about it.

3) It goes beyond that in the finale, when they start making out while she is comforting him about his brother's death.

They did not have a sexual relationship during the series run (though it seemed it might have been just about to develop that way), but his feelings did not remain unrequited.

BTW, he also had a consensual sexual relationship with someone else for a while, though this had nothing to do with love.

I watched another episode! The second one of the second season. Yet another good one--I'm really digging this season so far. The ep ended with the reveal that Ryan O'Reilly has breast cancer--whoa! Poor guy--I actually felt sorry for him. I love that Schibetta's son totally called that O'Reilly is a rat. Isn't screwing over Adebisi a bad idea? I would think so.

What does Schibetta's son have on Warden Glynn? Will we ever find that out?

Loved the way Beecher manipulated Schillinger into screwing up his chance at parole. That was pretty genius, and I was totally cheering for Beecher. I don't get why Hill was worried about rooming with Beecher--I mean, yeah, Beecher seems to have gone off the deep end, but he's only ever lashed out at people who have sexually assaulted him. That beard has to go though. It's so weird looking!

I like McManus more and more as the show goes on. He's really trying, and I thought it was sweet how he sat Kenny down at night to teach him to read, so none of the other inmates would know what was going on.

Who was the guy teaching the class? Is he important? I didn't recognize him from last season, but I guess he's an inmate?

Really liking this show. I might try to sneak one more episode in tonight in between festivities. Thanks for discussing it with me, guys!

IIRC, O'Reilly tries to end their "relationship" but Howell refuses, threatens him with her nightstick and then threatens to force Cyril instead. From that point on, it's all rape.

I watched another episode--the third of the second season. I'm starting to feel really bad for Kenny. He kind of got on my nerves at the beginning but my heart totally broke for him when Adebisi tore up his book. I'm glad he's still going to classes, but if Adebisi is opposing it, I wonder how long it will last. :/

O'Reilly is married? For some reason, I thought he was single, that he'd told someone he wasn't married. The priest or the doctor maybe? Anyway, I definitely have more sympathy for him now. This was the episode that introduced his brother, Cyril, too.

OK, so Schillinger can get some random guy to help him whack a Jewish prisoner in like two seconds, but he can't get anybody to kill Beecher? And what the hell, Beecher--I get that he's pissed that Schillinger raped and tormented him, but it seems like he's playing with fire to me. I'm sure he didn't want to see Schillinger paroled, and the trick he played turned out pretty well, but isn't taunting Schillinger now a big mistake?

I do love Beecher though. He's definitely my fav--there's something really endearing about him. Loved the scene in the pod with him and Augustus over the farting. That totally cracked me up. I really like this show!

Yeah, I think that's the point where I'm at. Beecher's all sing-songy and making up rhymes. He definitely seems like he's lost his grip on reality. I don't think he's on drugs anymore... he's just kind of crazy. And yet not totally crazy--when he tells Augustus about Schillinger plotting to kill him and how Schillinger played right into his plan, it's obvious that he was sane enough to have a plan. I'd just think he'd realize at some point that messing with Schillinger is just not a good idea.

Such a change from how Beecher was in season one, too... he was so passive. He'd say no, but Schillinger would push and he'd cave. It's quite a turn.
