Does Anyone Go to Strip Clubs?

There was one strip club I went to, mostly to humor my friend, because he didn't want to go by himself. He bought me lapdances and stuff, so I guess I can't complain.

It was hard to find a girl that I actually enjoyed looking at, though. The owner of the club had a thing for toothpick-thin women who were probably meth addicts. It was Indiana, after all.

I can't say it ever occurred to me to ask to hold them. That seems all kinds of creepy and weird.

What is your take on these institutions? Waste of money? Waste of time? Harmless fun? Good investment?

Males and females reply. I haven't been to one since college. But I have had some very interesting experiences in these wonderul establishments of morality.

I feel bad for the people that patronize them. I feel worse for the people that work in them. A waste of time and money.

I've never been to one and am not particularly eager to change that, but I won't say it'll never happen.

I've been to a strip club but I don't frequent them. I have no problem with them and if people want to go drink and watch girls get naked and dance so be it.

I would advise those who have never been...don't bother. I wish I never had gone to one...much of my time between 21-25 was wasted going to those places...even with friends there it took a while to see how awful it is. We had some good times but over all it is not worth it. I worked at on for 3 days as a cook and it changed my opinion of clubs for good.

I've been to a couple. The whole thing doesn't really appeal to me, although I've had friends in that line of work (and similar lines of work), so some of the people are certainly interesting.

dont feel bad for anyone, its the girls in there that feel bad for the suckers, err... customers, they prey on...

i was a bouncer for almost 9 years, and while yes there is always a broad spectrum of examples good to bad, the overwhelming majority of strippers are not what society percieves them as. they DO have self esteem and pride, and most even enjoy their work.

Waste of money.

They are typical of American culture, all tease and no substance, with a lingering scent of trashiness.

Doesn't help that the stripper I've met (off the job) were narcissitic twits. At least they make (mostly) taxable income...I suppose.

But at a strip club? I can look at hot babes for free on the 'net, or in any number of movies I already own on DVD. Don't have to spend any more money.

What makes you think some people can't get satisfaction out of going to strip clubs the same way you get satisfaction out of the things above? Not saying strip clubs are everyone's cup of tea, but the basic principle's exactly the same as what you described for the things you like to do--they do it because it's a form of entertainment.

Well, I can only speak to my own likes and dislikes, and the concept of strip clubs doesn't appeal to me at all.

And therein lies the real problem. It all just seems like a scam to trick people into giving up all their money.

Actually what flummoxes me is when married people go. Aren't they getting any at home? :(

As long as they operate legally, and don't do things like charge $15 a drink with a 5 drink minimum, I fail to see how it is a scam or a trick.

A bunch of single moms dancing around with their C-section scars and bullet wounds? No thanks.

A bunch of my (male) friends thought it would be a hoot to drag me into one about 10 years ago. I sort of looked at it as an anthropological field study, and spent the entire time watching the patrons, as they were far more interesting to me than naked chicks. At first it was fascinating, then depressing, and finally, creepy. Also, the drinks were very bad.

I never understand guys like that -- those who think it would be funny/entertaining/amusing to take a woman into a strip club. Then again, those same guys are the ones who always brag about how many or which women they've "nailed" -- meaning they're not getting any.

I've never been but I need to rectify that. That said, it'd have to be one with attractive people as opposed to a cheap one with people who just finished shooting up and still have cocaine on their noses.

Vancouver, British Columbia. You'll thank me.

The only strip club I have been to was in Vancouver actually. It was part of a stag do.

The girls were certainly attractive.

I've been in clubs all around the world: San Francisco, Thailand, the Philippines, Oklahoma (believe it or not), and up in BC. Unlike the US clubs, the Canadian clubs don't charge a cover fee and don't hike the price of their drinks. The dancers worked the stage and the floor waiting tables in the various clubs we patronized. Strip clubs bore me, so I always went along to supervise and be the sober navigator. One club we attended, in 1991, had Gallery Magazine's Girl Next Door from 1990 dancing. All of the Canadian dancers were effing hawt, yet this female made them all look like Ugly Betty. I was off to the side, watching spots highlights & accidents on a TV screen while my friends were at the front stage. I'll never forget the rip away jeans that woman was wearing or how much she *enjoyed* being up there. Seriously, the things she was doing with her body and the look on her face said it all, and my friends were gracious enough to reward her.

I was having fun getting nice smiles from the waitress while she served me Kokanee beers. I think she also liked that I didn't leer at her.

Nah, those friends are just asshole who have historically enjoyed torturing me in whatever way they can think of.
