So Like 20" of snow by Saturday afternoon

^ Ditto for my part of TN. It is 50 degrees and pouring the rain. They are saying it is supposed to change by mid-afternoon. Now my mom, who lives in NC has about a foot on the ground at her house and it keeps coming down. Yikes!

Chinatown, DC: 6 inches and coming down hard (giggity). Me and the love are about to venture down to the National Mall and get some good pics.

There's been a bit of snow in the UK. Not much, and the transport system seems to have held up quite well this time.

Personally it's not the snow I dislike. It's the fact that it compacts into ice and becomes VERY difficult to walk over.

No snow in this part of Jersey, yet. But the radar shows a blanket covering the whole state. Weird. I find I can never trust the radar here.

There's a blizzard warning in the D.C. area until tonight. The snow is coming down harder, and it's getting windy, too.

Lots of church services tomorrow are already being cancelled in my town- even if mine isn't cancelled, I can't get there anyway!

Its 4wd only around here for now. My old Kia sportage is not much but it loves this kind of weather.

We've had a light dusting of snow only. About half an inch. [Story of your life :guffaw: - everyone] But thanks to the remoteness and height above sea level of my house, it's enough to settle and encourage a thin layer of ice to form tonight.

They say last night was -14C. Definitely was not a good night for my central heating to suddenly not work. :( It's working now. But the house is still cold.

Manassas is out.

I'm still thinking about ducking over to the Fair Oaks Mall, though. I have Christmas shopping to do and it really isn't very far away.....kind of wondering whether the employees at the stores there will have skipped work though.

^ If they have skipped out... it will make it easier to shoplift. :rommie:

If anyone needs me I will be in the "morality" thread.

So...when one is being carefree and childlike and wants to fall backwards into a snowbank...it's best to make sure there's not a curb there.

Snow fail.

Downtown...

And it has gotten considerably worse since I took these. Now I can barely see out the window. White out, indeed.

I live near London and we had a good few inches. There's some 2 ft snow drifts in the fields around here as well.

I honestly have no idea how much snow has fallen here. Close to 12" at least. The parking lot and the side streets in my neighborhood were poorly plowed, and the snow keeps coming down so you can't really tell. Suffice to say, I never even attempted to drive into work today. Called my boss and she was okay with it. The good news is that there doesn't seem to be much going on in the office today.

I've cleaned off the car and shoveled the sidewalk twice already, and they already need to be done again. WTF. I also tried to avoid cabin fever, so I managed at 15-minute walk up to the village center, where the Subway and grocery store were open.

Yep just returned from a cancelled trip driving to Baltimore. After a pickup in Brooklyn headed to New Jersey and after speaking with our loved ones in Maryland they told us of already 6-9 inches of snow there and suggested we cancel the trip as we were just passing Newark airport.
The return drive on Sunday would have been probably worse.

Oh well...
started snowing in NYC around 1PM today.

Light dusting here in northeastern Jersey. Nothing to write home about. The heavy shit is supposed to come tonight, now.

Nice pics, especially #5. Our snow is coming tonight. I'm hoping it insulates my house, because my new furnace isn't going to be online until sometime Monday. :rommie:

I'm going to merge this with the pre-existing Snow Thread.
