Crusher is right- feed 'em, give 'em plenty of fresh water, and a nice clean litterbox, and they pretty much take care of themselves. Some need occasional brushing, and others need a lot of attention.
And the ones that don't like attention are the most fun. You just snuggle wuggle them and they get all pissed and try to squirm away.

ETA: I have 3 litterboxes, one for each cat and an extra in case somebody gets sick during the day while I'm at work. I had scooped 2 out of 3 this morning, and Beverly's tapping her paw wanting me to finish. I told her I had "2 clean stalls, no waiting!" but she wanted me out of the room so she could pee.
So I decided to just snoogle oggle her and tickle her under her chin. While I was doing that, Owen walked in and cut in front of her in line for the litterbox.
Boy, she was pissed!
