My husband had somewhat the same reaction, only his exact words were "I don't like all that frilly stuff."
I wanted to pick something with sleeves because I knew she wouldn't wear something sleeveless, and she goes for frilly sometimes so I figured it's a fair enough guess. She never would spend on a dress for herself, so even if it doesn't work out, she at least can get a different dress.
Plus we're taking her to the orchestra for her birthday, and I thought that might be a fun dress for her to wear.
I just came from Amazon where I ordered a Kneeling Santa figurine for my Christmas decorating and several books.
I also just came from Amazon. I bought all six seasons of Corner Gas on DVD. 
Today, I picked up some more Christmas presents and I finally settled on this years Holiday Cards. I couldn't make a final decision on just one so I got the two that I really liked, one for family and one for friends. I usually send out around fifty to sixty cards so thank goodness I found them on sale this year! It only cost me $30!
I also picked up the special edition of "Santa Claus: The Movie" and Tori Amos' Christmas CD.
Yesterday I ordered a Flash Gordon lunch box and Lady Gaga's new album off Amazon. Hopefully they both will get here before Wednesday.

Well, as much as I -do-, I'm playing through my second campaign now.
I bought a basic long sleeved, deep gray t-shirt and two lovely, warm lambswool sweaters (one light gray and one cream) from Gap today. I don't usually shop there, but every so often they do bring out something of good quality and good design.

Squeee scarcely begins to cover it. I'll be able to replace my existing 400-disc DVD changer and my Playstation 3 with this one unit, and sell the other two to recoup some of the cost. When I read this this will pull the information for each DVD directly from the internet I was sold. On my existing unit you have to enter every name and title manually using a keyboard. Ugh.
