Would Vampires make DS9 better?

I've never understood the obsession with undead, personally. Vampires, zombies, whatever- I don't see the attraction. I find nothing interesting about them at all, yet they seem so popular. Whatever the hype is, it seems to have passed me by.

In general, or in a sci-fi setting? Depending on the 'style' of the vampires can make sense or call to a primal fear/instinct.

However, for DS9 and Star Trek in general, blood suckers don't make sense. The doctor of the series would just cure them

It was either before its time or too late. The Vampire high of the mid-90s was gone and Zombies were the new cool kids on the block as via the theory of the Hollywood Horror Cycle (which much to horror fans' disappointment is not some sort of demon possessed bicycle). If they only held back on the movie until 2009 and then Vampires are in and those crazy kids would be all about the Remans.
