If Online Dating existed in my 20s, I may have taken advantage of it. My problem was always meeting women with similar interests; I could meet nice women and attractive women, but they all bored me. I sometimes think about getting into it now, since I have met several women online who are far more interesting than most women that I've known in real life, but I'm no longer really motivated and I'm short enough on time as it is. :rommie:

I met 2 women from online dating...they were both crazy and lied to me.

I can't do the online dating thing. I'm too much of a social person and that doesn't let me be in with just words.

    My charm is best in-person.

I won't knock it though, in theory, it's pretty cool, I mean, instead of trying to size someone up by how they look alone, they give you list of interests in all that jazz so you have a starting point to their personality.

I love a good bar with a rock band playing though. My kinda place, meet my type of girls. I have 2 beers and I'm ready to chat with anyone and everyone.

Ugh...my bad luck reachs the online dating. Each site I sign up at, I ALWAYS get the same results:

1: All the hidious hag-beasts I would not be seen next to, even dead in a plague pit are often the results I end up getting. :angryrazz:

2: I read the profile and it seems great...she's 'bout as ready as I am to get down to business. BUT she has that one thing the wrecks it all. One, or more, KIDS.

3: I always put "Bi-sexual" for the type of girls I want. And I find one who's super hot, really naughty....but I find near the end of the profile, "I'm not looking for any men, sorry guys!" WHAT....THE....FUCK? :vulcan: If you are a chick and NOT looking for men...put down "Lesbian" or "Gay" because you are just being a rather annoying cock-tease. :klingon:

4: I get those profiles of chicks not looking for anything intimate...just pen-pals or something. Lady, if you're not looking for the imtimate stuff, do NOT sign up on a site made for DATING/SEX. :borg:

5: They are too far away, as in other states or countries. I know two gorgious male to female transgenders, and one's in California, the other's in England. :(

Now I have a question here, and I want the girls here to answer me this one, mmmkay?

Picture it. I know a girl who I've know for pretty much my entire life, since we were both in kindergarten. We would walk to and from school when we were in grade school and play on the swings during recess. In high school, we hung out often and helped each other with homework, studied for tests, or just had fun in the computer lab, playing Quake. Anyhow, I always liked her and, admittingly I was rather scared to go further at the time (Untill I was 17, I was the fat kid in school....picture Bobby Hill with a curly afro. And keep in mind this was in the mid 1990's...before 'fros were considered cool again.). Anyways we always kept in contact and recently (having gotten alot more confident, having shed the flab, gotten more muscled body and lean abs and learning alot more helped) I figured why not go ask her out?

    I do so.

And do you think she was happy, or in the very least flattered?

    HELL NO.

She got VERY freaked out, as if her own brother asked her out. I mean she got upset. I think she'd rather it been her brother than I. :vulcan:
Now, ladies....can you please explain to me just WHY girls seem to do this? I mean I myself would rather date someone I've known for years than someone I just met in a bar or a club. I mean she knows what I know, I know what she knows, etc....why is this such a TABOO for girls? What is it about these drunken gigalos these girls suddenly meet and they are a much more worthy person for her affection than someone she's known for a long time?

Is this commen and am I so old fashioned, or is something a miss here? I mean I don't even see high school sweethearts anymore these days.

And this is just one of the less frustrating experiences when it comes to chicks and dating.
THIS, ladies, is why guys do NOT want to be friends....this is why ~Assumes Monty Python falsetto voice~ "Oh, Castellan, I like you alot and you're cute and all, but can't we just be friends?" ~Assumes normal voice~ Once you're a friend...you're stuck on that friends' ladder....and you're chances of sucess with these girls are as high as Dubya being able to understand long devision. IF the guys had a chance to still go to that next level, it would not be a big deal...but since it does not work that way, Friends is the REAL F-word in my vocabulary. :brickwall:

Also...why is it when the girls say, "You know, I wish more guys were like you!" And when you try to get to the next level with her, they just go, "Oh, you....I want guys to be like you, but I don't want you that way :p" They state they want their special someone to be like you, yet when you make the move, and you are, to all intensive purposes, the prototype of what they want, they just pretty much think it's 'cute', and not in the good cute.

See, I gots my questions? Another reason I am just about ready to do in dating as what all American companies seem to do these days....outsource. :borg:

I'm so frustrated that if I ever meet god, I'm gonna rip his smeggin' nipples off. :borg:

In April I married a woman whom I met online in the fall of 2007. We're doing very well, thanks. Prior to meeting my now-wife, I had a year-long relationship with a woman whom I'd met online.

^Having read all that I can say it's presented in a bitter, mean way...but the theory is not without it's merits. I recognize way too much to dismiss it fully. Especially this part...
...makes we want to scream! I've literally had all those (except for the brother one, managed to dodge it somehow) said to me. Oh and also according to that I have about 13% shot at the womens pie chart. 15 or 20 if I'm really freaking generous and add some of the looks considering I'm okay looking from the neck up.

Most people don't give a shit about things like that, girls included. So long as you don't play RPGs all the time and only talk about that stuff no one really cares. I've never met anyone who was repulsed by my interests in sic-fi/fantasy.

Preseting it in a bitter, mean way is good, gets right to the point. What annoys me that these 'bad boyz' girls seem to just LOVE and LUST after are so damned ugly.....I mean most of them look like Kid Rock, Tommy Lee, Flava Flav, Bam Bam Bigalow, and Keith Richards. I work hard to keep fit and look my best. I work out to have my washboard abs...who gets the girl? The thug/redneck/punker who had the washboard face.

But yes, friendship with a chick is pretty much worth less than nothing.

Girls make terrific friends if you aren't hung up on them. Even if you are a bit, they can still be great company platonically so long as they aren't parading their SO around in front of you.

To put it nicely? That post is why you don't "get the girl"

My esteemed colleague is correct on this matter. You can't blame a failed relationship or crush on something else like "I shouldn't have become her friend first" or "I'm not tough enough" or "I'm not eough of a bad boy." Sometimes shit just doesn't work out and you have to move on. Sometimes it's your fault, sometimes it's hers and sometimes it's neither.

    It's never my fault, though.
