Boy trapped in homemade balloon...

OK, I see what you're getting at. Kids are also know for not being the best communicators in the world. Although in this length of time, SURELY an 11 year old would be able to get the point across that "Uh well I didn't mean he was IN IT, when it went up."
11 year olds panic during times of stress. Everyone does.

I'm more inclined to think he's flat lying or just totally mistaken (saw the brother go in, looked away, didn't see the brother get out before lift off) as opposed to being totally unable to clarify his story.

Why don't you water board him so we can learn the truth?

Well I just hope he's lying/mistaken/miscommunicating/whatever because the alternative isn't too pleasant to think about it.

Um, yeah, I'm serious. There was a box/basket that was attatched to the balloon. It wasn't there when the balloon landed. The kid may have been in the basket.

I don't think it's that big of a mystery and there's not that much conjecture IMHO. Assuming the news report is accurate that he was not in it when it came down, there are only two possibilities.

1) He wasn't it when it lifted off or;
2) He fell out before it landed.

If he wasn't in it, again assuming the news report is accurate (and I readily admit that it may not be) the older kid is either lying or is mistaken.

3) Passing space aliens safely beamed him out of the fragile and dangerous vessel.

Hey now! Just because that's what the family thinks doesn't mean it happened.

Anyone here familar with Colorado geography? How far did this balloon travel before it landed?

About 50 miles.

Yeah they have been supposedly looking for over an hour now, no one has it confirmed there was supposed to be something on the bottom or not.

4) The kid was actually a space alien sent to Earth to learn about humanity and is now on his way home.

The police have to be the dumbest in the country besides Boston. They come out and say they have no reason to believe anything fell from the balloon and now they are going "Well... maybe...."

Ask the family if the thing had a basket or not!

I do love how the news will deal with this for several hours when dozens of soldiers will be killed in Afghanistan and Iraq and no one will care because one 6 year old from a dumbass family died.

I see that you, despite your complaints, are following the story just as much as anyone else is.

My impression of the whole thing is that the kid went splat. They probably don't want to say until they know for sure.

I'm following the story very closely. So far, no object has been found yet.

This is the families youtube channel. :)

Perpetual motion machines. World ends in 2012. It has everything the trekbbs has ;)
... moon landing hoaxes, tornado chasing... it's like a parallel universe.

For once, I'm speechless. :vulcan:

For once, I agree!

The aliens returned the kid!

Now the state has to come in and take the children away from these fuckwarts.
