Sex scene in SGU pilot?

It established Scott's motivation for being concerned about putting her in danger later.

Also, it established that people in certain tv universes do, in fact, have sweaty monkey sex (as opposed to some weird method of procreation involving tender music and a slow pan to an open window.)

The so-called "sex" scene seemed rather pointless; I didn't see any nudity at all. And story-wise it didn't seem to amount to much. But perhaps it'll be revisited later on.

LOL! :techman: Once, just once, I'd like to see two characters in a movie meet, fall in love, kiss passionately, disrobe, and then go right into some really creative backdoor position or some oral. Why does it always have to be missionary? Real life is not like the cover of a Harlequin novel.

Actually, after watching part 3, the sex scene no longer makes sense. In part 3, it's implied Scott got a girl pregnant when he was a teenager, she had an abortion and Scott's adoptive father was so disappointed in him he became an alcoholic, which resulted in his death. You'd think with this kind of bad experiance in his past, Scott would be a bit more careful about having sex. Or is he just using a condom and hoping that's all that'll be necessary?

Some become more careful others more reckless. Was she enlisted? Although the LT seemed more of an aide de camp then directly in the chain of command before the attack it now seems he is the second ranking officer on the ship and his commander is wounded.

That would presume that young men with high sex drives always learn from their mistakes.

Also, I didn't see the implication that the priest became an alcoholic because of the abortion; there was certainly no indication in the priest's reaction that it shattered his faith badly enough to immediately drink himself to death. What I took from that scene is that he disappointed the priest, and perhaps was drawing an equivalence in his own mind between the priest's alcoholism and his own weakness of the flesh.

Channing Tatum was banging that one ugly chick that he was acting awkwardly with later... It was in a utility closet, kind of Chief Tyrol/Boomer style.
I saw one with a hot chick, none with an ugly one. Are you sure you were watching the right program?

 I thought they were both totally unattractive. Not hideous, but they aren't hot even by sci-fi standards...

IIRC, it's only a kind-of sex scene, because he's called on the radio by a superior to go do something, so he has to toss on his clothes and do work.

Okay, if we take your interpretation into consideration, then from Scott's perspective he believes this incident led to the priest's eventual death. With that kind of guilt, he should be still be a bit more careful about having sex.

I doubt that they ever played with the ideal on the show. But a women assigned to a cutoff outpost with no cheap and easy way to reassign, I wouldn't be surprised if they all had the more aggressive forms of birth control mandated. Yet I give it 17 episodes before some woman turns up pregnant. Has a poll started yet?:bolian:

They both look pretty hot to me.

Now there they're both hot looking.

The problem with the earlier pic is probably the high light level, the eyeliner, poor choice of outfits (specifically the one on the right, which does nothing for her) and hairstyle.

As a male geek I can't believe I just said all that, I almost sounded like I'm interested in fashion... urrrgh.

:)

Except we were talking about... bland young white guy and his utility closet conquest.

Chloe and the medic are pretty solid for Stargate chicks, so I'm not complaining.

That was Lt. Vanessa James and she's also on the ship, she'll be in some 16 eps. of the show.

I agree in that there are no hot chicks in SGU. The blond one has a horsemouth, and the other one has a chubby face. The asian looking one doesn't look all that hot, either. But then, there aren't any hot guys in SGU, either. Guess it's part of the "it needs to be realistic/gritty" idea.

I personally think both Alaina Huffman (Tamara) and Elyse Levesque (Chloe) are quite attractive.
