Looks or Personality?

Guys,

Last night, I had intense discussion with my female friend about looks and personality. She told me that she's been in bad relationships in the past, that is, she's tired and sick of having men cheated on her.

Considering the circumstances, she's fed up with men who's only looking after pretty women with looks only, not personality.

Now, my question is, are you after looks or personality? It's very important.

I go for personality, then again I have been fooled by not-so attractive women with fake personalities. It is hard.

S.

I am after neither really, as I have no interest in having a relationship at this point in time.

However I think that both are important but that personality is far more important than looks. I actually wouldn't want a man to be too good looking as most handsome men I have meet are somewhat conceited. I would much prefer an average looking man with a good personality.

Looks. It's all about the looks. I'd date a guy who was a complete jerk if he had the hair of David Tennant or Joe Flanigan.

There's got to be a balance. Personality is the more important long-term factor, but most relationships begin with some level of physical attraction. I am willing to be open-minded about appearance, especially since I'm no Adonis myself, but if I'm going to look at a person for 50 years or more, I'd prefer that she not be totally ugly.

is it the breast of the beast question yes?

I like women like Helen of Troy the totally laid back types for some reason .,

we can create their personality or they can create ours depending on the greater personality, but looks come and go with time. so neither is the true gage for being with someone really.

I've been told that looks are secondary (when it comes to people assessing me, that's definitely a given :() and that it's personality that shines through, although both do contribute. Besides, there is a theory (I'm not sure if it's true) that if a personality truly shines, the person can appear even MORE attractive subjectively.

I think these guys put it best:

Maybe I'm greedy, but I want both.

My idea of what looks are best might not be entirely normal, though.

For me, personality is more important. When it comes to looks I'm more in favor of hygiene and the like. If you clip your fingernails, wash your hands, bathe, and wear deodorant, we're already off to a good start.

Agreed. I don't think it's asking too much. She doesn't have to be a super model, but there has to be some physical attraction, right? I can't trick myself into thinking I'm with a good-looking woman. I'm going through something like this at the moment. A female co-worker and I have been spending a fair amount of time together socializing outside of work. We hang out, go to dinner, go to a movie, etc. It's casual. Just friends. I feel like there might be a connection on a personality/emotional level, but I'm sorry to say she does nothing for me, physically.
