Intersting Bug...

Yup, that's Mr Mind from the original Captain Marvel comics. :bolian:
I dont know if I should laugh or cry, thats crazy.

anyone who is not vulnerable to mind control (there must be some heroes out there which are not) could just step on him problem solved.

Now I remember why I stopped reading comic books.
The original Captain Marvel was obviously geared toward younger readers-- the Caspar, Richie Rich type audience. Most of it is really great stuff.

but Captain Marvel can go a few rounds with Superman? what on earth makes them think a 2 inch long bug is a suitable villain for such a hero, working in the group does not really cut it.

And Superman could pop Luthor's head like a pimple if he wanted to. :rommie: Mr Mind was super-intelligent and had mind control powers and stuff; it was just lighthearted fun comics.

ok his mind control is his biggest advantage, but unless he can control any feet that are near him, at some point in the battle he is going to get squashed?

if they were to make a Captain Marvel movie, would you feature Mr Mind?

Probably, as he was a major character. If I were to make a CM movie, I'd be true to the core concept and do it as much like the CC Beck days as possible. Again, not only were these books for children, but they were done in a more colorful age before the blandness of postmodern deconstructionism took over.

I think Captain Marvel would be best suited to a 3d animated movies with a tone similar to THE INCREDIBLES.

Or they could go dark and gritty and reinvent the character so his powers come not from magic but from government experiments using recovered alien tech. We could find out all his previous light-hearted adventures were just mental implants.

This thread stopped being about me and my interesting bug several posts ago. Looks like I'll have to do some shameless attention-whoring to get us back on topic.

Thats the best you got? Poser

^^ You're no Captain Marvel.

I think it would be hard to take anything but a light hearted approach to a Captain Marvel movie
Well, it would certainly be the correct approach. But as we see time and again, the correct approach is often not taken. :rommie:

Yeah, these days this would not surprise me a bit.

Damn it I figured the purple naked unicycle-riding Hotel California-playing bag-piper would get things back on topic. FOILED AGAIN!

Speaking of bugs ... snapped a picture of this a few months ago:

OH yeah, I know what it is -- I had just never seen one so big before (hence the ruler in the photo). The fucker was rather dosile, even stayed there for prolonged periods.

Last night, while walking past McDonalds I heard the dulcet tones of "Hotel California" from over their PA system. Unbidden the image of a naked, purple man on a unicycle filled my head. I couldn't stop trembling for hours.

...The HORROR...!
