Tonight was pancake night :) Swedish thin pancakes. The boys had some cheese melted ontop and drizzled them with syrup.

Mine was with strawberry jam. Very tasty. Not a veggie in sight.

Last night went to Denny's and I ordered myself a sampler which hit the spot and had a Brownie Cheesecake with white chocolate chips on it. It was good.

Homemade pork, redwine and garlic sausages, creamy mustard mash, brocolli, red cabbage with apples, and onion gravy.

Tonight I had the same, but I roasted some carrots, red onions and corguettes to go with it.

I'm about to have a chicken schnitzel, with some carrots, broccoli and sweet potato. And then some cheesecake for dessert. Yum.

Garlic soup - great for when you're coming down with a cold but tough to make when you're not feeling your best. Consequently, not my best effort...

Beef short ribs, cabbage salad and sweet corn. (We only eat sweet corn when it's in season, so we eat nearly once a day from midsummer to early fall. And we never tire of it, either.)

Garlic soup?! What deliciousness is this and why have I never had any? I'd love to hear how you make it ... when you're feeling better, of course!

That's the best way to eat sweet corn. And you guys get the good stuff. West coast corn is inferior in nearly every way to the corn grown back east.

It's true. I grew up in Califonia and I've always loved sweet corn, and the sweet corn there was fine...but I never tasted sweet corn perfection until I moved to Indiana.

Honestly, my meal planning in the summer 5 days out of 7 isn't "What side dishes go with this main dish?" It's more like "What else can I serve sweet corn with today?"

    I'm a junky, I tell you, a total junky.

When I lived back east I had a piece of property that adjoined a neighboring farm. Every spring I'd go over and give the guy $50. For that, I got the right to raid his field three or four nights a week all summer long for fresh corn without getting a butt full of buckshot. There was nothing better than picking it and then eating it 30 minutes later. It was glorious.

    ^eating in season:techman:

Last night I had some Indian street food from a cart: a fish frankie ( was like a wrap) and some kheer( rice pudding). Love the cardamom spice.
Later I had some green juice made from a powder and spirulina.

Chicken and Noodles. Was quite nice but I have a wierd way of eating it. The 'Top layer' of chicken has to be cut off first or I won't eat it.. I'm really fussy

A late lunch, followed by mid-afternoon overeating of scones, cream, jam and way too many Tulameen raspberries has meant that dinner may not need to happen tonight... :D
