And now...David Wright. :(

Anybody believe Matt Cain when he said he didn't do it on purpose? What about that little hat tip that he did? That sound like remorse to any of y'all?

Oh come on.

Cain isn't like that at all. It was just a pitch that got away. It happens to everyone. Heaven forbid someone like Sabathia or Santana have never done something like that before. Also his reaction after the pitch said it all.

^ Hmph. It sure looked childish, Cain waving his cap around like he had something to be PROUD of. He says he was just "adjusting his cap". That sounds like backpedaling to me.

Oh well. I am so mad right now that I can't think straight. Maybe tomorrow I'll have a clearer perspective on this. If it wasn't for the cap waving, I might be more inclined to believe Cain. He'd better understand why he got booed, though...

Anybody have a fresh update on Wright's condition? What are his future prospects?

Aren't you supposed to hate the Mets as a cross town rivalry or something?

I don't recognize "cross town" rivalries. The only rivalry I believe in is Yankees vs. Red Sox.

I don't see why I should hate the Mets just 'cuz I'm a Yankees fan. They don't usually play each other, so what's the problem? I love New York, I love baseball, therefore I love New York baseball, and the Yankees and Mets are both exactly that.

^That's fine. I follow the A's a bit even though they've made it tough the last few years. I like going to baseball games, A's or Giants.

What pissed me off is when he plunked Mr. Met two innings later. That one was intentional...no doubt about it.

A really nice outing by Lackey yesterday. When he's on, it's a thing of beauty.

:techman:

9 runs in the 13th inning!

:techman:

Baltimore looks like another team that may need a little help in the bullpen.

Mets win today! :techman: I hope they dedicated the game to David Wright.

Unfortunately there's some jackass who calls himself "Phillies_Kick_Ass" who is currently trolling the comments section (on mlb.com). Now I know most Phils fans aren't like that. Not even they would want something like this to happen to one of our boys.

As for Matt Cain, well, even if it was an accident, he shouldn't have tipped his cap like that. That was immature and just wrong on so many levels. And he'd better not be surprised he got booed, after what he'd just done...

Blegh, I hope the Red Sox pull out of this slump, and soon. They've even lost the Wild Card lead. :scream:

Though I'm kind of getting the feeling that this just isn't their year, anyway.

Sadly, he joins the rest of their injured all stars on the DL, and may shut it down for the season.

Though I wonder if that's just an extra precaution they're taking since they're out of it anyway.

Jeez, the Twins lose home series to both Cleveland and Kansas City. Even in the weak AL Central, you can't win the division playing like that.

Cain isn't like that at all. It was just a pitch that got away.

And how often does THAT happen?

Two words: Pedro Martinez.

"A pitch that got away" is a sad, tired old excuse to anyone familiar with New York baseball. Yeah, tell me another story.

Although I'm starting to miss the glory days when there was actually something worth watching baseball-wise in this town. Out-of-market games are a staple these days. I don't give a crap who's in first in the AL East, but seeing Boston 7.5 games back? So nice to have my August birthday present swan dive back. Thanks, guys!

Now if the Phillies would just take the dive right alongside, it might be a good post-season.

I don't particularly care if it was an accident. Cain should get suspended for a few games at least. Most drunk drivers don't intentionally go out and get in wrecks, yet we still throw the book at them...

And dammit, the tipping of the cap was way the hell out of line. Beaning David Wright was bad enough, but Cain has to go waving his cap around like a little bitch? What, was he surprised he got booed?

The pitch got away from the guy. It happens, and it sucks when it does, but usually doesnt end up in someones head...but this time it did. It was an accident. Any suspension at ALL would be lunacy.

God talk about overreacting. Also, I read the reason he was tipping the cap was because the people who pays his salary was in the stands. Not sure if that's a reason or excuse, but there you go.

Cain wasn't even looking around. He was just waving his cap, like a big FUCK YOU to the Mets fans there. "Sorry I almost killed your best player, have a nice day..."

The pitch got away from the guy.

Why is that an excuse?

Remember what I just said about drunk drivers. If a *car* 'gets away' and hits somebody, the driver will be held accountable - even if it's an accident. So why do pitchers get off so easily? Wright could have been killed...remember what happened to Natasha Richardson?
