How do you choose which incarnation you watch?

I own all of the Trek series shows (with the exception of ENT, which i eventually plan on buying), and movies. I find that my mood usually decides which incarnation i watch. If i am feeling a bit nostalgic or a little bit blue, i usually put on TOS. TOS is my "comfort food". When i am in the mood for some SciFi action, a TNG movie. When i want to enjoy some character stories, its a TNG episode, and so on.

How do YOU decide which Star Trek you are going to watch?

I go through phases of watching the same show every day, then when I get bored of it I move onto one I haven't seen in ages.

I'm a TOS kid - plain and simple. I might sit down and watch one of the others if it happens to be on TV but TOS is what I grew up watching and so that incarnation is what Star Trek is for me...

Just whatever I come across to. But I don't watch much TV these days and the only trek DVD I have is Star Trek II, you know the Khan one.

For me, it all depends on what I'm in the mood for - or what I've got.

I've got all the "modern" Trek on DVD, except for Seasons 5 and 7 of Voyager (trying to complete the collection of the funky red box sets), and TOS remastered, because I'm waiting to get a HD television first before I buy them on Blu-Ray.

Recently, I've returned to Enterprise, and then I did that in a weird way...I watched Season 4, then Season 3...I might as well go the whole hog and watch Season 2, and then go back to Season 1 for a laugh.

I usually find myself watching TOS. I just finished watching Obsession. I will watch about 3 episodes per week. If I look for a change of pace I will switch to DS9. I can still catch plenty of TNG on TV since they seem to show it often.

If I'm having trouble sleeping, I usually plug in one of the movies that I've watched over and over and OVER again:

Wrath of Khan
Search for Spock
First Contact

If I'm in "obsessivetrekkiegottawatchemall" mode I can go through about 4 episodes of Enterprise front-to-back.

When I'm in the mood for a really epic setting I watch some story arcs of TNG, i.e. all the episodes where Lore appears.

But if I can't decide I plug in some Voyager and watch Janeway chug coffee and kick Borg ass

For some reason I've watched "Search for Spock" more than any other Trek film, I liked the Klingons in that one, the first time they were seen as truly dangerous.
Shatner was good too, and DeForest Kelley was able to pull off some great character acting !!

Now I'm on a ST:Enterprise kick (on SyFy now, everyday) , but if I'm really looking for comfort Trek TV I go to TOS first, then TNG. I avoid DS9 and VOY completely. I used to watch VOY reruns for Seven of Nine, but now I have T'Pol... I like T'Pol

Sometime back, I went through everything, usually 7-8 eps over each weekend. Took about 3 years at that rate. Enterprise is my current rewatch favourite. When I'm not watching those, it's usually something completely random from TOS. Sometimes rarely I check out whatever Virgin 1 (a UK channel) is showing... but the episode has to be really, really good, as I hate all those adverts.

Sometimes rarely I check out whatever Virgin 1 (a UK channel) is showing... but the episode has to be really, really good, as I hate all those adverts.

Virgin 1 is my ambient noise most of the time. I've even sat through Enterprise because they're showing it now. (Wasn't very happy when TNG finished and they lumped ENT on us instead.) It's handy because sometimes I want mindless VOY episodes, and Virgin one is the way to go for that.

I sometimes get a craving for the TNG movies, but I haven't got any so whatever my mood is when I decide I want to watch them, it quickly turns to disappointment when I remember that I can't
