Dreams - Recurrences and Meanings

I related this to her the following day and she told me she had had a dream that same night about being chased through the house by an intruder, and her dream ended up with her dying ... in that exact same spot in our house!

I'm sure there are RL explanations for these things and our minds work in odd ways but sometimes it's unsettling nevertheless.

Though a psychic link between siblings would be pretty cool, wouldn't it?

I have dreams like that from time to time! Within my dream, I'll suddenly realize I've completely forgotten I was enrolled in a class, or that we had a final exam, or something completely ridiculous. It's highly stressful!

It actually seems to be a fairly common dream. One of my colleagues here told me that he used to have it as well.

Interesting dreams, everyone. Jadzia, I assume you were referring to the secret behind the doors when you said you were able to "uncover a mystery" in your dreams?

No, the doors were all portals. I used them to get around at the beginning of the dream. Some of them led me to a different dream altogether, and one of them would wake me up.

The mystery was self defined in way: the dark figure who often appeared upon the cliff who stood watching like a sentinel. I wanted to meet them, and find out who they were, but I couldn't find a route to the top of the cliff (until the last dream). That was the mystery. :)

Does anyone have dreams that seem connected to RL? Where you dream something, and then encounter it that day? Or have a connection to someone else through your dream? My sister and I have often had dreams that seemed to be connected to one another, and sometimes it's freaked me out a bit.

Like one night, I had a dream about coming home and finding her lying dead in a particular spot in our house, seemingly from an intruder. It was an unusual dream for me, and unsettling.

For years I used to have dreams of being on a tropical/near-tropical beach when a HUGE tsunami would come in, sending me scrabbling up the sandy dune for safety (sometimes I'd make it, sometimes I wouldn't). This was a very scary dream I had for many years.

It stopped December of 2004. I have never had it again.

I honestly find myself wondering if it had something to do with the Indonesia tsunami.

I would suggest quite possibly. There is indeed evidence that big events which effect many people have repercussions that don't necessarily match linear time and aren't limited to those directly involved. After all, our minds aren't fully linear, are they? And we all share a collective "undermind" of a sort, or at least that's the theory I follow. Morphogenetic fields and such:).

Had another strange dream where I literally could not bring myself to wake up and end the dream.

I dreamed that I was waking up in my own bed, but unable to open my eyes properly, and as I did I could try to go to the toilet (but the toilet was unfamiliar to me for some reason). I then tried to go downstairs for breakfast, but I could hear loud voices of men with thick northern English accents playing football in my front room and shouting out to me and chanting out, repeatedly calling me a "c**t". I then ran back upstairs and went back to bed, waiting until the calamity died down, but then trying to get back up to sort out the invaders to my home once and for all. Only thing is, now I couldn't move, my eyes could only see the one image of the view of my lampshade and curtains as seen from my bed, and despite trying to reach out for my watch and clock, I could not see any other image whenever I opened my eyes. At this point I tried to wake up, knowing that this was all a dream, but I couldn't.

In hindsight, I think this happened when I dream while under sleep paralysis, as it felt like a combination of the two phenomena.

Sleep paralysis has happened to me a lot, too. My mind thinks "I'm awake" although my body is obviously still lying in bed.

I don't usually dream during sleep paralysis, though, Ths was the first time in a long while this has happened. Or at least the first time I've ever attributed it to sleep paralysis. (Believe me, I did try to centre my pineal gland and other stuff like that, just to see what it would be like, but to no avail. :p)

A recurring theme in my dreams is the mob. I'll dream that I'm an accountant laundering funds, a getaway driver, a hitman, drug dealer, etc. In my dreams, I'm excellent at what I do, and have no remorse for the crimes I commit. So is my mind telling me I should take up a life of crime?

Oh, and last night I had an interesting dream that was a combination of two movies I've recently seen. In my dream, one of the aliens from District 9 was joining the GI Joes, and was having to go through all these rigorous training tests to see if he/it would qualify.
