Fox Cancels Family Guy

I know "The High Ground" was a controversial TNG episode, but I thought we were talking about Family Guy's TNG episode? Which I've never seen but cannot see why it would be controversial.

Because the main story wasn't about TNG cast, that was Stewie's b-plot. It was actually a Meg episode about her finding religion then Brian ruining it for her. It was a blatantly anti-religion episode.

Damn for a second there I was extremely excited Fox finally canceled that disgrace of a show that just happens to share the name of a [slightly less abominable] show canceled back in 2003.

To quote from a better show "Sometimes dead is better".

fyp.

Ah.

Ok.

Ummm. What was so controversial about the TNG episode?
are you making a joke, or seriously asking, as the BBC refused to air an episode when they first aired TNG, the name escapes me right now, ill look it up if no one posts it

it was not controversial but it was rubbish, I guess for Trekkies it could be considered controversial in that whilst yes the Trek part was the B story it was also a really rubbish story.

of course it does not help that Futurama, created the near prefect "Where no fan has gone before" episode a few years before it.

FG should be cancelled. The first time it didn't deserve it, but now it does.

And something tells me that when they don't air this episode, it's deservedly so 'cause it's likely going to suck anyway, which is different from when there are, say, "South Park" problems.

Fox won't cancel Family Guy now... it's been nominated for an Emmy. The series never earned that sort of recognition before, when it was fresh and funny and different. Now that the series has grown old and stale, the Academy wants to reward it. Pretty much the way they keep nominating all of the other unworthy crap.

A lot of people say that FG wasn't funny when Fox first resurrected the series. I disagree. I think that the series was overall still good up until this past year or so.

Canceled or not, it still won't stop a friend of mine from finding a FG episode or quote to relate to almost everything you say to him.

I'm not joking either. There needs to be some kind of recovery program for people like him. ;)

the UK had that problem with Little Britain a few years ago

FG has definitely lost the funny element. I watched that OJ episode they had and I was like :wtf:... This is the best you people can do? And the FG TNG episode... it sucked, IMO.

Personally, I thought Peter's "Erm, Mr Shatner - In the episode where you drowned your wife, why were you so fat?" was a FAR more overtly offensive thing than the bloody religion plot (even if the Shatner thing was fucking hilarious).

Funny enough that joke hit me the same way. Somehow I just found that in outright bad taste versus all the religion stuff they did. Then again I don't "do" religion, so what do I know?

Hmm, I thought it was just me, I've always thought the show was crap, with an occasional good line or half okay episode. I would be quite happy to see it consigned to a dumpster.

I don't find abortion funny, and as I often quote, I don't offend the local gods, it never pays.
