Is it still showing where YOU live?

[McCoy]Good Lord, man![/McCoy]

I salute her, then... Although I'm now "officially" going to wait for the Blu-Ray to come out before watching it again.

(Where have I heard that before?)

I think I'm going to see it again at a first run theater on Sunday. It's down to 2 showings, 2pm and one at night (I think at 10?).

If not, I'm going to the second run to see it the next time.

Saw it for the 6th time last night, the last showing at Silver City Gloucester (Ottawa, ON).

But it appears to be still showing in Kanata, so I may be able to get in a 7th viewing.

Me, too; I'm done at 20. Unless it came back to our IMAX here, which it won't.

So, I just asked the husband to remind me what movie he's asking quid pro quo, and he said, "District 9." He won't want to see it mutiple times, though.

Is "Kanata" a native phonetic spelling of the same word that begat "Canada" or something...? Just curious.

It's down to one theater w/ one showing a day.

My aunt was in town early this week (she's seen it more than me) and we took my mom who hadn't seen it yet.

I hadn't heard of District 9 before, but it sounds potentially interesting.

It's a district of Ottawa, looks like, though it wouldn't surprise me to find that it's also the native name from which "Canada" was derived. (Hmmm, related, anyway.)

Saw it at the Warner Theater this evening. They've raised their prices from $4 to $5.

This was my 4th viewing, and probably my last until the DVD release.

And "District 9" -- my husband says he got interested in it from this short by the same guy, Neill Blomkamp:

Looks like something you could mistake for raw news footage, if you managed to overlook a couple of pretty major visual incongruities. Interesting.
Apparently, Peter Jackson thought so, too, since he's producing it...

I'm looking forward to it too. Saw a trailer for it on the TV yesterday - looks very interesting.

It looks good, but the story looks sad. I already feel sorry for the aliens and think humans are pond scum. ;)

Looking at some of the footage toward the end of the short you linked above, I get a sense of a place below even the apartheid townships on the social scale. It would almost have to be sad.

I'm very much looking forward to District 9. I first saw a trailer for it when I went to see Wolverine back in May, and once I saw PJ's name onscreen, my curiosity was piqued. With each preview I've seen since then, I've grown more and more interested. Here's hoping it's as good as it looks.

Oh, and as for screenings of Star Trek (which is, you know, the point of this thread ;)), my city's second-run discount theatre is still showing it three times a day. In Toronto, it's playing at 5 locations, two of which are mainstream cinemas, two of which appear to be more along the lines of independent/second-run theatres, and one of which is the Ontario Science Centre's IMAX theatre, where Trek will be shown once a day for the next month. :D
