Top Gear New Series

Pretty good ep. The dinosaurs thing was just showing that the usual fast cars on the track aren't the best anymore. I think they just wanted to promote the whole walking with dinosaurs show... but whatever.

The STIARPC segment was the best one in a while... better than Bolt's segment. Brian Johnson had a great story too, about Sputnik... Good challenge this week too... MUCH better than that racing a letter rubbish they put out.

Is it true they're only doing 7 shows this series? What is the deal with BBC shows having these super shortened seasons lately? I guess that's the only good thing about American TV... we get 20-24 shows usually in a season.

I don't know. I enjoyed the letter race more than the classic car challenge post-auction. The auction itself was hilarious but I didn't find the cars, the race or the co-drivers that interesting. Their love for the cars didn't come across in the video, imo.

"If I see Jeremy Clarkson I shall poo in my own hand and throw it at him." My new sig. :guffaw:

Clarkson succumbing to his need for speed and power against the Mustang was classic. I also can't believe May won another challenge, especially with the insane amount of body roll that Citroen had--I thought he was going to topple it around some of those curves. He's won more of them this season than in the previous 11 seasons of new Top Gear he's been in combined.

That bloody "glamour model" they stuck May with must be the stupidest human being I've ever seen presented on television.

A race where consistency is more important than speed is practically made for James May to win.

What's really surprised me this series is how badly Hammond has been losing. Hamster hasn't even come close in any of the challenges.

^He bought a Taxi with no documents and a list of faults longer than him that still didn't run properly after he got all of that repaired. I'd say this one was his own fault.

Maybe, but it was never boring when they went to shots of them together. When I saw her with him, I just thought to myself "You bastard!"

This is the way its always been we get 7 in the summer and 7 in the winter.

Most British shows are like that. Most American TV shows could stand to lose a few episodes a season to get the overall quality up.

That isn't always a good thing, as you often end up with quantity over quality. The last two seasons of Lost serve as an example that shorter seasons can often be a good thing. I can think of several US genre shows that could be hugely improved by dropping a few episodes per season in order to tighten up the writing and improve the pace.

Why, because she didn't give a hoot about rally racing or because she wasn't interested in James' hours-long rambling about heat timing and lap calculations?

You do know that producers of television shows usually coach people on how to act, right?... they clearly wanted someone in the car who would be beautiful but of absolutely no help to May and that's what they got. It's like on Survivor and other reality shows: they find people with a certain characteristic and then they tell them to hype that part of their personality up and poke them with sticks for a month.

I stopped making random assumptions about intelligence based on limited information because I feel like an idiot for doing it myself. :)

^As I said - "presented on television". If she's smarter than that in real life then fine but all she could do was pick on James' hair and generally get in the way.
